Adobe Reader App Released on Android

After the announcements of Flash 10.1 and Android 2.2 last week, the release of the official Adobe Reader app on Android sort of got brushed aside. In fact, this was announced on May 20th and we may be the first to report on it. Crazy. And after looking at the market and seeing less than 50 downloads, I’m thinking the general public hasn’t really heard about this either.

So what is it? Your basic PDF reader with some added flare:

Multi-touch gestures
Flick-scrolling and panning
“Reflow” mode

Only for Android 2.1 and above.

I think Will give that a try, never used apps2sd app, figured all i would need is a rom with that ability. Now to find that app will be the challenge. Its amazing how interesting it is. Thanks!

Going back to Beam Reader. You can't open bookmarks and the second file I tried to open with the Adobe reader came back as “error opening”. Tried it 3 x's. Beam reader opened it right up.

When will the flash player 10.1 be availble for the htc hero?

First you have to get froyo to even get flash player. But to my knowledge the hero isnt getting 2.2. Dont quote me but i dont own the phone to know. Just havent read anywhere about it getting it.

Ok, I'm a little curious…by the way you worded that, does it mean you can only add NEW apps to the SD card or can you transfer existing ones as well??

This reader is a major improvement over pdf-to-go and quickoffice; both of them fail to open my LaTeX powerdot presentations (pages come up blank), but this reader renders them perfectly. Reflow mode is great too (especially if you have video out).

Excellent. Was never really a fan of the default pdf viewer. Crazy that an official Adobe app like this still has less than 50 downloads. I use PDFs a lot for work so this will definitely come in handy.

Nice! Thanks Kellex. The pinch to zoom feature is long-awaited. It's a little clunky but it works. The text reflow was kind of scary.

I know this isnt the right topic but I need your help with rooting my phone. I have the super user permission on my phone and I tried to get sp recovery though rom manager and installing it the way you did in the video, but when I do it through rom manager a message comes up saying “An error has occured while attempting to run priviliged commands!” What can I do to fix this and have my 2.1-update rooted?

Man really need Froyo 2.2 need to move apps to SD card…….Also another way to organize apps forget what apps I have, even started to get apps that do the same thing…..lol

Yea i hear ya, im running out of space for apps. I mean Cyanogen and Ultimate Droid have the “apps2sd” feature however ive tried Cyanogen and i could not get it to work even after partitioning my sd card and all that happy stuff. No idea whats going on.

If you have partitioned your card… you just have to set up your apps to go to your SD card… once you have downloaded the apps2sd app… you just have to go into the application settings and checkmark the apps2SD box that allows new apps to get installed to your card.
