The changes coming to Foursquare have been documented for quite some time, as the app was set to perform different tasks than the same ol’ check-in app it once was.
Today, the rewritten app is now available on Google Play for Android users, ultimately taking on a much different role, one which will hopefully have you dining at new restaurants and enjoying new experiences in places which surround you already. (more…)
Checking in with Foursquare is about to become a whole lot more personal, for better or worse. Foursquare is finally delivering what it promised in May, migrating check-ins to Swarm and revamping the Foursquare app with recommendation-powered search.
Swarm, if you will recall, is the app that shows you where your Foursquare friends are. It’s meant to facilitate social sharing and meetups, which the company said the Foursquare app was impeding. If you already use Foursquare, there’s no need to sign up for Swarm – accounts are unified. (more…)
A few weeks back, Foursquare announced that they would be breaking their application into two separate ones. Foursquare found that a lot of users hopped into its app to check where a restaurant was or to read reviews, but were not using many of the social aspects. Foursquare is making a move to divide its main application into two separate experiences for users – the main being your usual check-in app that Foursquare has been since the beginning, along with a new app called Swarm.
When you are out at a dinner and have finished up, you are ready to see what your friends are up to. To help with the process, the company is readying a standalone app, Swarm, which will show you where your friends are when they have checked in at a location. (more…)
