LG G Pad 8.3 Equipped With 4G LTE Radios Stops by FCC en Route to Verizon

LG’s newest tablet, the G Pad 8.3, has hit the FCC this week on a course to Verizon’s 4G LTE network. The tablet made a quick stop, showing LTE radios that support bands 4 and 13 (Verizon’s bands) inside and model number VK810, while all other specs and dimensions of the tablet appear to be unchanged. The G Pad 8.3 is also available as a Google Play Edition device as WiFi-only right from Google Play for the price of $349.99.  (more…)

LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition Receiving Android 4.4.2 Today

If you picked up a LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition this week (our unboxing and hands-on), be sure to jump into Settings>About tablet>System updates, you may have an update awaiting your approval. According to at least one of our readers, the 52MB update is rolling out now, bringing the tablet up to the most current version of Android available. The update itself doesn’t do much from Android 4.4, but does tweak UI elements here and there and also squash bugs that Google deemed important. After all, 4.4.2 showed up within days of the release of 4.4.1.  (more…)

Unboxing and Hands-on: LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition

On Tuesday, Google and LG announced a Google Play Edition of the G Pad 8.3 tablet – the first GPE tablet device to ever be released by Google. Much like every other GPE device, the tablet comes running stocking Android, this time being Android 4.4 aka Kit Kat. It features the same specs as the regular variant of the G Pad 8.3 from LG, with its Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 5MP rear-facing camera, dual back-facing speakers, 8.3″ IPS Full-HD 1080p display, 4,600mAh battery, 16GB internal storage, and weighs 338g.  (more…)

LG-V510 is a Google Play Edition LG G Pad 8.3, Not a New Nexus

The mystery of the LG-V510 is pretty close to being solved today, as open source files for the tablet have surfaced over at LG’s site. If you download the source .zip file and unzip it, you are greeted with three files – two of which call it the “G-Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition.” Rumors for weeks have gone round and round about this device, hoping all along that it would be some sort of Nexus 8. LG “V510″ Passes Through Bluetooth Cert, Could be Rumored Nexus 8 Tablet

Spotted by Japan’s Blog of Mobile, an LG-made device with model number V510 passed through the Bluetooth certification process recently. If you will recall, the LG G Pad 8.3, which is model V500, was announced back in mid-October, and is now on sale at Best Buy for $349.99. What has us excited is that Google is apparently “teasing” an unmarked Android tablet through Kit Kat promotional materials, but we know the device pictured is not a Nexus 7 or Nexus 10. Could the V510 be a Nexus 8?  (more…)
