Flappy Bird Developer Speaks Out, Says Game Became “Too Addictive”

I’m sure many of you were in shambles when Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen decided to pull Flappy Bird from app stores earlier this week. Many speculated overwhelming publicity led the game maker to pull the plug, but in an interview with Forbes, Nguyen says differently.

Nguyen told the publication that he felt the app was too “addictive.” He said Flappy Bird was a game designed to play “when you are relaxed,” and that the global obsession with the app “became a problem.”  (more…)

Goodbye, Flappy Bird.

Flappy Bird has been removed from both Google Play and the iTunes App Store by the game’s developer, Dong Nguyen. The game’s success was apparently too much for its creator  to handle, even with the $50,000 per day it was making him. In a series of Tweets sent out this weekend, Nguyen stated that the game would be removed and that he “cannot take this anymore.”

He also mentioned that he will not be selling the game, that the pulling was not related to any sort of legal issues, and that he still makes games. Flappy bird and its reign, though, has come to an end. Well, it will likely still live on through third party channels or through anyone who has it installed still. There just won’t be any fresh installs from either major app store.  (more…)

Top 5 Android Games: January 2014

Here at DL, we go through a lot of games and apps, but usually, there are only a few that shine brighter than others. This could be because the graphics are great, the controls are perfect, or the music is totally righteous. Whatever the case may be, we wanted to compile a short list each month that covers our top five favorite games for that month.

The games are playable on pretty much any Android device, so if you feel like trying any of them out, you can follow the Google Play links to pick them up yourselves.
