Comparison: Galaxy Nexus vs. DROID RAZR vs. HTC Rezound

by: | posted 11.01.11 | News

One of the most requested potential posts of the last few weeks has been a comparison chart of Verizon’s winter lineup of super phones: the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, DROID RAZR, and HTC Rezound. After traveling for 3 weeks straight to hopefully find out all that there was to know about these devices, we finally had a minute to sit down and whip up a quick chart. We should point out that most of the Rezound information is what has been given to us in a variety of leaks and is not “official” although we are pretty sure almost all of it will match up to what HTC announces on Thursday. The Galaxy Nexus and RAZR info was pulled from official spec lists and sites. Some things are missing, nothing we can do there until we get the final spec set.

And my, oh my does Verizon have one heck of a phone lineup heading into the holiday season. If anyone thought another carrier was making a push to top Big Red on Android, those dreams will be crushed come Thursday when the entire set of phones has been announced.

Motorola DROID RAZR Arrives At The FCC, LTE and GSM Radios Included

Motorola was able to keep their latest flagship smartphone, the DROID RAZR hidden within the FCC prior to this mornings announcement. After Sanjay Jha took the stage to announce “the world’s thinnest smartphone”, the FCC approved the device. Obviously the RAZR comes packing Verizon’s LTE bands with CDMA 800 / 1900 support. Interestingly enough the device also comes with GSM and WCDMA connectivity, the documents also state that “this device supports voice call functionality over GSM and WCDMA on non-US cellular networks”.

Will the RAZR be a global device, if so it will be Verizon’s first LTE enabled global roamer. However if that is so, wouldn’t Verizon and Motorola have highlight this unique feature during their announcement?

Motorola Confirms Our Suspicions, DROID RAZR Will Have A Locked Bootloader

by: | posted 10.18.11 | News

After Motorola’s DROID RAZR announcement this morning, users took to Twitter with a pocketful of questions. A user by the name of @Eldorath reached out to Moto about the RAZR’s bootloader and was lucky enough to get a response. Unfortunately, as we suspected the RAZR will indeed have a locked bootloader at the request of Verizon.

While the phone is definitely slick and sleek – will this change your attitude towards it?
