Now Anyone in the US can Purchase Google Glass and Become an Explorer

Google is opening up the Google Glass Explorer program once again, except this time, they have no intentions to close it. Google states that as long as they have units to sell, anyone can buy them and become an Explorer. Of course, the price is still $1500, but if you are a true early adopter of all things tech related, here is your chance to own a pair.

While Google continues to work on finalized hardware and software, the company is still looking for feedback from Explorers, meaning your job as a Google Glass owner is a very important one.

Here is what Google stated in the announcement.

We learned a lot when we opened our site a few weeks ago, so we’ve decided to move to a more open beta. We’re still in the Explorer Program while we continue to improve our hardware and software, but starting today anyone in the US can buy the Glass Explorer Edition, as long as we have it on hand.

Ready to drop $1500? You can do so here.

Can someone please Photoshop a Brazzers logo on the bottom of that pic? Thanks.

  • jmess82

Yea… Anyone….. Anyone with 1500 bucks they have to throw away.

  • Sean Lally

My guess as to what they found out when opening up sales a few weeks ago is that there’s not a huge demand at $1500.

  • louiserobbins

    Ellie . I agree that
Donald `s st0ry is terrific, I just got Porsche 911 after bringing in $8689
this – 4 weeks past and just a little over $10k last munth . no-doubt about
it, this really is my favourite-work I have ever done . I began this
10-months ago and immediately made at least $72.. per-hour . see it here

Should be a droid life contest 🙂

  • J Davis

This is a clear sign that they have given up on a consumer based product for the masses. They are going to sell off what they already have and scrap the program.. You heard it hear first.

I wouldn’t be surprised. At some point Google must have realized that the public perception of these is not what they hoped it would be. Instead of being accepted as the wave of the future they come across as an awkward gadget for tech-absorbed people. And I just don’t think most people are ready to have a normal conversation with someone who has a camera pointed at their face.

      • I wouldn’t mind getting one without camera for cheaper price… just a heads up display…. or something with integrated cap that I can close and open when I need it… just so that I can shut the nutters up….

I still would really want a pair for biking. It would be sweet to have the ability to call, send short texts, see navigation etc… while on a long ride. That being said, my priorities may be put into question when my sunglasses cost more than my bike.

        • calculatorwatch

I agree they can still have some pretty awesome uses. It would be really nice to rent one when traveling to another country and be able to check maps, translate signs, and take pictures without fumbling around with anything.

I guess I just don’t understand why Google is keeping them so expensive and inaccessible to the average person. They’re like the Segway of tech gadgets, great idea but socially awkward and not worth the money.

        • Shane Redman

I grabbed a pair on that “one-day sale” after I came into some money after an accident. They’re definitely the great bike ride companion. Use them all the time to get around in DC since I don’t know the city too well.

And I’ve also learned that if you put a frame on them, people really tend to not notice as much as people say. I wore them without the frames and admit I got TONS of weird looks for 2 days. Put the frames on and ppl didn’t notice. Everyone’s always looking down at their phones anyway 😉

I was thinking it meant that they didn’t quite clear out 1.0 and want all the units out for a while before releasing 1.1 or 2.0.

Your theory makes sense though which worries me.

Ugly Girl: “i wonder how i can make myself look even uglier?”

Friend: “i think u found your answer”

Euro guy: “. I demand Google remove all links associated with me”

We now have a picture of the person behind Godzilla.

      • calculatorwatch

I liked this because I thought you were saying this guy was responsible for the movie. Then I realized you were probably just trying to insult him.

  • Godzilla

My buddy used his to record POV sex with his girlfriend. Im not kidding.

    • Ray

proof or its not happening lol

      • Godzilla

        • ApplesNAndroids

I know. I still think they’re neat but I’m not “that guy”

      • calculatorwatch

If you can afford a $1500 pair of glasses, you probably have enough money that at least some kinds of girls will be interested.

      • jabarri2

my girlfriend liked my GG 🙁

    • The Narrator

Want a cookie? Too bad, I’m out.

    • Bone Krusher

  • Chris King

I would love to pull the trigger on these and had planned to accept with Android wear coming out, I’m afraid these might get abandoned and put on back shelf

  • Godzilla

They couldnt chose a chic with a hot face? They chose that?

    • T4rd

Indeed.. where’s Kate Upton sporting Google Glasses?

      • michael arazan

She’s not bright enough to figure it out, like most models

She’d need instructions just to put it on her head

    • NorCalGuy

Y is it that all the ppl showing off glasses have to be so weird looking, this girl looks confused and the guy with the keyboard well just no real explanation just can’t believe he paid someone for that haircut

      • flosserelli

This girl looks like she wants to say “Damn, I just spent $1500 on this? WTF was I thinking?”

      • Raven65

You can’t wear those and NOT look weird.

    • John Davids

It takes zero courage to judge subjective topics from infinite distance.

Oh and by the way, words (and their subsequent spelling) mean things. “Choose” not “chose.”

    • Sergay Douchesky

Google Glass….we make ugly chicks look even uglier.

    • Lucky Armpit

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Cause I behold that she’s hot.

  • Colton

    Google Glass = 11 Moto E’s.
    Good try.

    • moew

How do you wear 11 Moto E’s off your ears and nose? You must be into some bad juju.

      • Colton

        very carefully…

        • moew

          Ok then, boring!

      • michael arazan

If you had 11 moto E’s taped to your head, you would microwave your brain with in a day

  • moew

    No thanks!

  • John

    $300 would be my max.

    • jabarri2
