Meet Me Halfway, a Helpful App in Beta to Find Points of Interest Between Two Addresses

Meet Me Halfway

Folks who frequently use Craigslist or other online services to sell goods to nearby residents, should check out Meet Me Halfway. The app allows users to punch in two different addresses, then shows the halfway point and local points of interest in that area. For example, if I was trying to meet someone from Salem and I was in Portland, it displays a few major rest stops/gas stations halfway between the two of us, perfect for a safe exchange of goods and cash.

As of right now, the app only indicates the halfway mark based on distance, and not time it takes to travel. On Reddit, the developer states he will look to add that function in a later update to the app, though.

As you can see in the screenshots, the app takes full advantage of the Android design guidelines, featuring a translucent notification bar and see-thru nav buttons. It’s quite the sexy little app.

It’s completely free for now, so go check it out.

A highway rest stop is a safe place to exchange money or goods? Clearly you’ve never been to Detroit my friend. ;)

Damn…I had this idea a long time ago but never took action to make it. Ideally it would cover 2 to n points and be able to calculate midpoint based on travel time with mixed modes of travel (public transit, walking, driving). Excited to see this made though and hope they continue to add enhancements :)

all joking aside, I always make the buyer on CL meet me near where I live. Ive dealt with one too many last minute flakers or no shows. I am not a retail store/employee, I do not get paid for my time to show you what im selling. I list the items as accurately as possible with many pictures and answer all questions. If you decide you still dont want it when you come see it, that is fine, but I sure as heck will not drive out 1 hour round trip just for you to pass.

Wow, that’s pretty convenient. Not something I’d have installed all the time, but definitely worth it when doing craigslist phone swaps.

Yea, this needs to be a website not an app.

“perfect for a safe exchange of goods and cash”
I wonder what type of goods were given for that cash…

Obviously technology, you can’t buy shady things/services on craigslist. ;)

I do quite a bit of buying/selling of model aircraft that can be cost-prohibitive to ship, and we in the community use “LPU” (Local Pick UP) a lot. This would be extremely helpful for just those kinds of transactions. Thanks for sharing!

change to “goods and services”, then we’ll talk
