? I have page plus prepaid and want a better phone
wanted to see if this phone will work

  • MG
  • Trevor

    Yaaay Verizon 3G. Oh wait

  • Jonkido

    hah

  • Cesar

Removing that back plate looks almost as frustrating as removing an Otterbox case.

  • rotard777

still no way of using this on a normal plan right? prepaid is your only option?

    • Scott

      That is correct.

      • David Narada Brown

        3G ONLY MIGHT I ADD!

        • Scott

          Yeah… Verizon CDMA 3G…

  • callumshell1

Why do you guys advertise moto phones so much?

    • Conner

I’m guessing it is because they actually like the Moto phones.

    • Cael

Because HTC sucks. Samsung is stale. LG is LG. And Sony won’t cross the pond.

      • Jim890

Stop trolling. Just because DL talks about moto way too much doesn’t mean you have to follow their lead… SMH

        • Cael

Stop hating. I don’t talk about Moto way too much but if I did it’s completely justified because they made an OVERALL GREAT product. Go tell that to HTC, Samsung, LG, and Sony.

    • John Legere

They made the device that founded this site.

      • aQuickBit

In case anyone was wondering, John speaks the truth.

        • Jim890

          Who’s John?

          • aQuickBit

John is T-Mobile’s very own CEO who just happens to comment on this very site of course. Kind of like Microsoft’s crazy ole Stevie Ballmer does from time to time.

          • Adrynalyne

No, he is StuckOnVerizonForever, and works at Best Buy.

          • John Legere

And you call me a troll. Funny.

          • Adrynalyne

Is telling him the truth being a troll? If so, you might want to google what a troll really is.

          • John Legere

I work inside best buy, making twice what they make. So saying i work for best buy is disrespectful.

          • Adrynalyne

            Thats what I said.

I didn’t say you worked FOR Best Buy.

I said you worked AT Best Buy.

          • John Legere

I need a joint, when is Friday?

          • Scott

What do you do inside best buy?

          • John Legere

Market Google products. The Chromebooks, Nexus 7/5, Chromecasts, etc

          • John Legere

Lol shhh, we’ve got cynical basement dwellers here who don’t like when people have fun.

          • aQuickBit

            I thought the humor was obvious….apparently it wasn’t :

          • Jim890

Bahahaha I’m sure that is not him. Sorry to bust that bubble. It’s StuckOnVerizonForever.. He probably has other names that he uses to comment on this site, very sad.

          • aQuickBit

-_- I am completely aware that it’s a novelty account. I was going along with it and making some humor off of your original question. Don’t look into it that seriously. Just have some fun.

    • MistaButters

Because Motorola pays them a ton of money to advertise their products. You didn’t think that massive advertising budget Google gave them went to nothing.

    • Shane Redman

What else out right now has news to report? Give them a few months and they’ll tell you all about the S5 and everything you need to know.

    • T4rd

Why do you ask pointless and rhetorical questions?

    • Adrynalyne

Does Samsung have a 79.99 dollar phone special on Amazon?

      • Jim890

Samsung is not going to sell a phone that has high specs for $79.99 come on now let’s be for real here.

        • Adrynalyne

I’m aware. It was sarcasm as to explain why other companies haven’t been listed.

    • Jim890

Moto is paying them to advertise their phones here, since this site is one of the most popular blog out there.

      • Cael

Samsung must be paying you to bash Moto like they did with HTC. How original.

  • chris_johns

Can this be used without connecting it to a network?…ive heard dif answers

    • starnovsky

      On WiFi? Sure, why not?

    • Cesar

The GSM version can be. Not the CDMA.

      • Adrynalyne

Why not the CDMA version too?

        • Cesar

It’s stated in one of the annotations on the video towards the end:

“Sorry I didn’t turn the phone on. It’s just that you can’t get past the activation screen on a Verizon 3G phone unless you activate it.”

          • Adrynalyne

Thanks. There was a trick of tapping each of the four corners clockwise to bypass that. Wonder if it works?

  • Bharath Kannan

just got one off the wait list but probably not going to get it.13 minutes until it goes to someone else.

    • Bootleg Zani

Yeah I got one off the wait list as well.

  • Dfigs23

Just grabbed one. $80 for a phone this great? couldn’t pass it up. Giving it to a younger brother as a media player.

    • BeLogical

I did the same for my daughter, great deal i think.

      • Dfigs23

Great deal. I was planning on buying it for $100 tomorrow or saturday. This is a perfect media player with great specs.

    • MasterEthan

Was thinking about it for my Son, but missed the deal. But $99 is still a great price so I’ll most likely still pick one up later.

      • Dfigs23

I have a VZ Moto X, my younger brother loves it. The Moto G is almost the same thing and it will be perfect for his age, $100 is still a great value. I bought mine at 96% claimed.

  • Lucki

    Deal just sold out.

  • Jon Garside

great catch. order one for my mother for her upcoming trip.

  • BeLogical

I’m confused, why is this $179 on the Play Store but $99 on Verizon and now $79 on Amazon?

    • steve0617

Not the same phone. This is the VZW prepaid CDMA version. Different than the GPE one

    • starnovsky

Because this one will only work with Verizon 3G network, 2Gb of slow like a snail data for $60 while the one on PlayStore has HSPA+, so you can get 5Gb of fast data for $30. I’d much rather get the one from PlayStore, better, faster and cheaper in long run.

      • BeLogical

ok, I bought this just to use a “media player” for my daughter, so should be a good deal, right?

        • starnovsky

It’s a great deal for the phone, Verizon prepaid is not a great deal though, but you not obligated to use it…

          • MasterEthan

No plan needed for son/daughter. Straight WiFi should be sufficient enough for media/app use.

  • guest

where is the gsm version for $80 or even $100?

    • starnovsky

Don’t wait for it, GSM carriers will not subsidize like CDMA.

    • dreadfall

you wont see it… verizon is subsidizing the phone. they know the phone can be only used with Verizon and can make back the money.

with GSM thats not the case

  • TheDrunkenClam

Is the battery removable? Why wouldn’t they put that feature on the X?

    • MasterEthan

No it’s not removable. The back is removable so you can switch colors out and that’s it.

  • http://www.odysseyforge.com/ Matt B

An even better deal may be to instead buy it unlocked / off contract for just over a $100 more on Google’s own play store and switch to another carrier that can then use it.

  • Kyle

I haven’t seen anything about it being used on a Post Paid account, can it be?

    • steve0617

Not until it’s been registered and used on a prepay account for 6 months. That’s the current Verizon policy for prepaid to post paid. But we won’t know if they’ll allow it ever until June.

      • Kyle

        Gotcha…thanks for the tip

  • cgalyon

If it would work on their standard plans, that would be tempting

  • TheDrunkenClam

    Quad core?

    • MasterEthan

      Yep. Qualcomm Snapdragon 400.

    • Kyle

Says it is right in the spec list in the image above

      • TheDrunkenClam

Yeah I know. I’m just shocked because my X is only a dual core.

        • MasterEthan

Yes but the X is 8X Computing. So it’s got a total of 8 cores in the X, 2 of which are in the CPU itself.

          • chris_johns

            thank you…people make me lol

        • David Narada Brown

quad core 400 in the G and dual core 600 in the X.

      • veRdiKt

        LOL
