Deal: Moto X on Verizon With MotoMaker Now $49.99 on Contract Until End of Year

Still thinking about whether or not the Moto X is for you? Feel free to take a little extra time if you are on Verizon. Well, you have until the end of 2013 to be exact, to get the latest deal through Motorola’s MotoMaker site. Launched today, the current deal will land you a custom-made Moto X on Verizon at an additional $50 off, making it just $49.99 with new 2-year contract.

I would imagine that does not include the new Bamboo option, though the price isn’t exactly showing the $50 discount for me at this time either (Edit: It’s apparently happening at checkout). It should be live before long. Again, you have until December 31 to pick up the Moto X at this price.

The $49.99 price is for the 16GB model.

Cheers Roberto!
  • Too bad I don’t want to give up my unlimited data for this :/

  • One thing I learned on the day Motomaker released on VZW November 11, 2013 from both Motorola and Verizon is they don’t know what the other is doing.
Both Verizon and Motorola in one shape or another honored the VZWDEAL over the phone. I bought 2 Motomaker Moto X’s. Verizon customer service gave me a $100 credit b/c i had to checkout on Motorola website. I called Motorola and told them I would have used VZWDEAL in the promo box on VZW website but i was forced to check out on Moto site which doesn’t accept it as a code. They offered me $100 in Visa gift card or motorola website credit as a “loyal customer” appreciation gift. On top of all of that! They went on sale for $49 for a few days.

If you kept up with that, I got 2 Moto X’s at $49 each ($98+tax) and they gave me back $200 in credits….You’re welcome!

My girlfriend will be so disappointed about this as her upgrade is not available till January 9th, 2014. Hopefully they’ll do this do this again next year.

    • TowelieMeBanana

Call them. Mine was the same. They made mine elig for yesterday. Just ordered.

  • gpzbc

For all the people who are hopping from the GNex to the Moto X, don’t you miss your ability to tether? That is the one thing that is keeping me on my Gnex.

  • Disqus_n00b

Well actually, it’s $80 when you include the upgrade fee, plus all the extra taxes that come along with a postpaid plan over 2 years. You’re honestly better off throwing the $449 on a credit card, paying off over 2 years and going prepaid VZW…then you don’t have to deal with an ETF either

    • Big_EZ

The Moto X won’t work with Verizon pre paid. Do you mean month to month? If so that wouldn’t be cheaper, the taxes would be the same. So you’d pay $400 more to save $30, unless you plan to leave Verizon, then it’d still be a little cheaper than buying at full price.

      • Disqus_n00b

I meant month to month…isn’t that the same as prepaid on VZW?

I don’t see it as “$400 more” since the subsidies are built into the contract.

        • Big_EZ

Month to month is the same price as contact pricing on Verizon. Their pre paid is cheaper, but only a few crappy phones work on pre paid, and there’s no LTE.

  • Big_EZ

I’d be all over this for my wife if Verizon didn’t change our upgrade dates from October and December to February.

  • Ben Rice

broke my S4 on tuesday so added a line to my account so i got the Moto X for only $1.00 at Best Buy

  • Daeshaun Griffiths

i’m still schemeing my way to bamboo.

  • Must… Resist…

  • testmang

    works on wood too

  • Kree Terry

i got mine from moto maker on monday and the dang thing wouldnt make or receive calls. After dealing with verizon for the last couple of days trying to fix it i finally decided to just request a repair. Chatting with moto’s customer service now. Fingers crossed they will make this as painless as possible.

    • trixnkix637

Get them to throw in a free headset or something for your trouble. No reason why after waiting you’re phone doesn’t work.

  • Tirionfive

The discount also applies for 32GB, for a total of $99

  • mtkregs

I think the discount is applied at checkout. The bamboo still looks to be +$100. Also, I think $49 is for the 16GB model and the 32GB model would be $99.99. Still a pretty great deal!

  • Roberto Taylor

The discount gets applied during the checkout process.

  • Tirionfive

This is it, Gnex users. It’s your time to shine.

    • Daniel Milton

Passed on this, already went with the Nexus 5 on Straight Talk. I’d like to see a poll of where all the verizon gnex users went at the end of their contract.

        Vzn “Unlimited” Weekend G2

        • crazed_z06

Note 3 here. Such a great weekend that was.

          • Rich Robinson

Yes it was. Averaging 8-10 GB’s every month since September. Coming from a Gnex to a G2 I’m a data hog with this toy!

      • Tirionfive

2nd this, Just because I’m curious. I went to Moto X, I couldn’t wait any longer for anything. Not even Moto X customization. FU Verizon.

      • Bryan

Replaced my GNex mid contract with a refurb Droid Razr Maxx that I got Verizon to send me after getting 3 faulty GNexes (radio issues). Just replaced that with a Moto X a few weeks ago. Love it!

      • NeilOMalley

I got an S4 in September from Swappa and then just got a Moto X with the promo.

      • Boblank84

i did the exact same thing, and took another line with me, could’t’ be happier. The service in my area is just as good, and my bill is cut in half. I will never sign a contract for wireless service again.

      • Chris Hilbert

Swapped my Gnex out for a GS3 and then left for Nexus 5 on T-Mobile. Done with VZ.

      • AndrewInCali

I went with the Droid Maxx as soon as my GNex contract was up – just can’t beat the battery – it’s basically a supped up Moto X. I will be getting the Moto X for my girlfriend though smaller size for smaller hands (upgrade from Razr Maxx)

        • Big_EZ

want the Maxx as well, the X is just to small. I’m gonna get the X for my wife (she wanted a Maxx until Moto Maker came out). The only thing I like better about the X is the soft touch back, but the Kevlar feels almost as good.

          • Edward Coles

I am debating between the maxx and the moto x right now too. Are they essentially the same phone? Are there any features that are exclusive to the moto x?

      • trixnkix637

Went with the Moto X. After thinking about it, I’d pay more with At&t, Sprint wasn’t an option, & T-Mobile’s network just isn’t there for the places I travel to & live in. Still chained to VZW. But luckily Moto made it cheap on me. $400 motomaker off contract thanks to the cyber sale.

      • badgrafix

I’m thinking of going to republic wireless after my contact Is upup next month.

      • LP @ThisisEther

GNEX to 150 off Moto Xer on Straight Talk….

    • Jason Brown

i might hate my gnex from time to time due to it being slow and poor battery life but it came through in the clutch the other day. my internet died the night before a final and i tethered through the night without skipping a beat. it’s always nice to have the latest and greatest but with such limited options on vzw, having unlimited data and the ability to tether are features i cannot give up.

  • Godzilla

    I would want the Maxx

  • Dean

Damnit… i bought one yesterday. Will be calling customer service.

    • Dean

Contacted and I got the $50 credited to my account. Good stuff!

      • Now call Motorola and say the same thing, they will probably give you a $50 Motorola accessory credit or a $50 Visa gift card. worked for me when i couldn’t use the VZWDEAL promo code on Nov 11.

  • Is it $50 cheaper for off-contract as well?

    • Radgatt

      Yeah right…

      • Ej McCarty

        let a man dream dammit.
