  • Chris

How much is shipping to get this delivered? I can’t find the pricing anywhere.

  • Khurra

    Send to indonesia please

  • Nick

Question for everyone leaving grandfathered unlimited.

What are you switching to and why?

Do you hate big red that much, or is it not wanting to get stuck with locked bootloaders?

    • KidFlash1904

      Both

      • Nick

But you’re switching to what? I routinely hit 10-12 GB a month and the only other options around or less than VZW’s price point are T-Mobile/Sprint/Metro PCS.

  • schlanz

Seeya later Verizon customers. Hope you enjoy moderate to crappy network coverage!

  • Luke Thomas

@Verizon-You reap what you sow!!! Goodbye!!!!!!

  • JT

    WHERES THE N10???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • CaptM

I contacted Google tech help as soon as I saw that the GN5 went on sale and asked if it would be supported by Verizon, and was told that it would not work on their network. 🙁

  • abhele

    16GB SOLD OUT NOOOOOO!

  • droidrazredge

Well it was an an eventful and shocking week due to Verizon surprising us this week by releasing things way before other carries it made hell seem to freeze over, but I guess Verizon getting a Nexus 5 is to much for even hell to handle.

  • AndrewScottRox

Ok, so how can win one via Droid Life? *wink wink*

  • PhilD41

Not that the N5 is officially NOT on Verizon (not that there was much doubt) I guess I am stuck waiting to see what Moto has up its sleeve. Really wish T-Mobile was in Iowa, would probably jump ship pretty quick. Oh well, back to the waiting game.

    • my92agsr

i’m jumping ship from vzw– but before I buy the N5 I’m curious about Moto as well. I love the size and feel of the Moto X, as well active notifications. Hoping to see them update the X with 4.4 pretty quick

  • my92agsr

time to sell my unlimited vzw plan

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand purchased. Still worried about the battery, but I’m jumping ship from Verizon to Aio or T-Mobile, and this device will work beautifully.

I may buy an external battery. Any recommendations?

  • black 16gb/32gb 2nd batch back in stock 11/8

    • fauxshizzl

I am wondering if there will be lots of stock in retail stores. I am going to hold off ordering through Google. If it is anything like the Chromecast I will be able to get one locally weeks before the back orders on Google.

  • fauxshizzl

Of course they did this on my lunch, the only time I have been away from my computer all day. And of course they still haven’t figured out how to produce enough of them because they are already sold out of the 16GB version in under a half hour. Just once could they mass produce something before they put it up for sale? Seriously. N4, Chromecast, N5, all sold out in minutes. WTF.

  • flyinggerbil

Is there a notification led/active display? I didn’t see any info on that anywhere.

  • Col_Angus

Anyone want a grandfathered Verizon plan? AoL on eBay FTW!

  • colbyJ

They are already out of stock of the 16GB white and black!

  • TheDrizzle

I’ll add to the “f*ck you Verizon!!” crowd. Got my 32GB in black. Awww yeahh!

  • Conner

Looks like all 16gb are out of stock.

Wait, now they are back in stock…and shipping on the 8th

  • Guy Meatdrapes

Now all i need to know is WHEN WILL MY NEW NEXUS 7 GET KITKAT???

  • anezarati

is the 16 gb already sold out?!?

  • eddieg28sp

    AND THEY’RE GONE … 🙁

  • 16gb white out of stock now too

  • Jim

No carrier compatibility is mentioned this time around. Interesting.

    • Carlos

      TMobile, Sprint

    • Keith0606

      and att

  • WCM3

Honestly, Droid-Life was the first site I saw this break on. Congrats to you guys! Keep up the good work! 🙂

    32gb panda ordered!

    • Blue Sun

      Agreed! Great job Droid-Life team!

  • T S

i accidentally bought 2 white 32 GB in my purchasing frenzy from my Droid MAXX. see ya Verizon.

  • Michael D

Could someone help me understand how I could sell my grandfathered unlimited data plan from Verizon? I really want to get away from Big Red and instead go to the $30 prepaid plan at T-Mobile (I bought the sim kit for a dollar the other day).

My situation is this. I’m on a family plan with my mother (who does not have a smartphone), and she is currently on a month-to-month basis. I, unfortunately, am on contract until July of 2014 (with the grandfathered data). I would not be opposed to selling my grandfathered contract, but I don’t really understand how it works.

If I could somehow sell my account, give my mother my current S3, buy the Nexus 5, and get both of us on T-Mobile’s prepaid plan (I use about 50 minutes per month, my mother only 100), it would be a miracle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Reginald Jefferson

Not sure why people are surprised about it not being on Verizon. You’d think all of the leaked documentation and FCC filings would have given that way by now.

  • Pedro

Aaaaand, 16GB Black Out Of Stock.

  • RGiskard

The developer page says that KitKat has support for IR Blasters, but the N5 doesn’t seem to have one. Too bad! That would have been an nice feature…

  • Kevin Gallagher

Kept changing my mind and ordering different colors and storage sizes, now I have three ordered and want to cancel two but already left the confirmation page. Cant cancel them from google wallet because they are listed as pending lol. $1200+ all tied up now.

    • T.C.

In Google Play, when shopping for devices, click the Gear Icon, choose My Orders, click Info under the status (leaving Warehouse by November 5th), Underneath the total ($440.35) it gives me the option to cancel my order.

  • dazz1996

on the google play site it reads
    Network
    2G/3G/4G LTE

    GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

    CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10

    WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/19

    LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41

    Carriers: T-Mobile, Sprint

I dont know the bands on verizon but would like this phone now, I added to my cart but need conformation that verizon bands are not listed thanks for anyones help..

    • avinyc

Verizon’s LTE band is 13 and the new AWS band is 4. The frequency for CDMA is 850 and 1900 mHz, but not sure what band class that corresponds to.

      • dazz1996

        Thanks for the reply

  • Iyvin Benjamin

32GB white and black are still available

  • venk

    • Iyvin Benjamin

      The 32GB black is available

  • PuttsMoBilesiCit

Ordered and ditching my MAXX. Goodbye Verizon.

  • Guy Meatdrapes

The Nexus 5 is available today at the Google Play store. It’s a fully unlocked device, priced at $349 with no contract for the base 16GB model. The 32GB version prices in at $399, and both are available in white and black. It will work across a wide array of carriers — in the US, it will work on EVERYTHING EXCEPT VERIZON….

that was taken from the verge

  • Scott Tilney

I don’t see anywhere, where it says which networks it runs on. Are you sure it won’t work on Verizon?

    • TheDrizzle

Verizon will be sure it doesn’t no matter what.

  • cvgordo

this is almost game breaking..almost doesn’t make sense why any android user would want anything else besides maybe the note 3.

    • Rodeojones000

      Note 3? Really?

      • cvgordo

what do the competitors have that set it apart from the nexus 5? g2 has buttons on the back, s4 has micro sd and removable battery. i think both are at least 100 bucks more than the n5 off contract right?
i mean if you’re in the market for a high end android phone then i think most people would give up a micro sd slot and removable battery for the low low price of $349+. with vanilla android and promises of timely updates it’s more than a compelling device.
the only reason why i mentioned the note 3 is because of the larger screen and s-pen functions..at least those are significant differences that someone could seriously consider in making a choice. hell i have a note 3 which i love but right now i’d be lying if i said i love it twice as much as a $350 nexus (it cost twice as much).
what else is there right now that can compete with the n5 in terms of specs, function, and PRICE????????

        • hkklife

G2 is $550 off-contract. A 32GB Galaxy S4 is $650 off-contract. These are Verizon’s own full retail prices, not sure what the going rate is for GSM/unlocked variants.

    • SplashMTN

From what I’ve heard about it, the G2 is also a solid contender.

  • redbar0n11

Can someone explain why this wont work on Verizon? Other than the inability to activate it in their system if that model isnt loaded…

    Nexus 5:
CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10 — LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41

    VZW Bands (via Wikipedia):
    850 MHz Cellular, Band 0, 1xRTT/EV-DO/eHRPD, 3G CDMA
1700/2100 MHz AWS, Band 4, LTE, 4G LTE

Right there I see Band 0 CDMA and Band 4 LTE – both are supported by Nexus 5!
(I know band 4 isn’t everywhere yet, but why the hell cant Band 0 be used???)

    So, what gives!?!?

    • hackthis02

I was just about to ask this.

    • DanSan

the problem was in the first 2 sentences of your question.

    • SplashMTN

It may work on Verizon, but even if it did they will never allow it on their network.

      • Jkdem85

what if you slip an existing sim card in?

        • SplashMTN

I’d be interested to see. I imagine you may be able to access their LTE service in limited areas, but I don’t believe you would be able to make calls/send texts since the Nexus 5 lacks the proper bands.

The reason this works with Nexus 7 is because support for Verizon’s LTE was built in. Google didn’t do that with the Nexus 5.

  • OneForTheGoodDays

I sorta kinda hope that LG, the architects behind the N5, have been sitting on 4.4 for the LG G2 all this time……….. *fingers crossed*

  • BMan

What is this $30 T-Mobile plan that everyone is planning on switching to? The only one that I can find on their site is for data only. I want to get my ducks in a row before my N5 arrives.

  • SplashMTN

I wish I could have picked this up today, unfortunately I have to wait another 2 weeks. I’m stuck with Verizon until the 25th anyway, but I really need a new toy now.

  • MichaelFranz

As excited as I am, even though i am not buying one yet….disappointed with no big annoucement or some kind of googly thing

  • 16reasonswhy

Just cancelled my black 32Gb which was the only option at the time and got the white! Oh yeah!

  • DanSan

we need a system dump of this thing ASAP!!! i want that camera to load on my GS4 running CM

  • n11

Purchased. I selected 32GB and was looking back and forth between black and white color, then noticed “out of inventory for black”, so I jumped on the white right away lol.

    • n11

And just like that after I made my post, went to check on status, and everything is “out of inventory” A minute later and I wouldn’t have had that phone!

      • NeedName

only see out of inventory for 16gb black.

  • Ej McCarty

I just impulse bought this and I just got the note 3… idk what got into me. haha. my gf is gonna be so pissed, but maybe I just won’t tell her. I just can’t think straight right now. It looked so nice. Ill just sell my note 3 and get aio. Yeah, that justifies my logic…

  • Rodeojones000

Congrats to all getting this. I remember the excitement of December 14th, 2011 when it was announced that the GNex was being released the next day. Sadly, I’ve decided to stick with Verizon because of their coverage where I live and I’ve moved onto the G2.

    • blaaah!

      Same here man… i’ve had the G2 for 5 days… liking it.
      Oh well.

      • Rodeojones000

Yeah, it’s a great phone. Got mine this past Sunday. But I love the Nexus line and can’t help but think how this LG isn’t a Nexus.

  • KidFlash1904

Made it 🙂 I was worried when it said it was taking longer than usual to process my order. But I just got the email with the Google play order receipt 😀 goodbye verizon! Hello T-Mobile! Hello Nexus crowd I’m finally getting one!

    • jbdan

      Welcome welcome welcome! To both!

  • omar
    • Rodeojones000

Damn. Had you asked this 4 days ago I’d had have given you mine for free. But i decided to upgrade my line.

      • omar

        haaaaaaaaaaa. thanks though 🙂

  • Adam Johnston

Ordered! Finally I can get some work done now….

  • Guest
  • Bill

No AT&T?!? Sorry can’t leave VZW for TMO or Sprint….as painful as that is to type.

    • Adam Johnston

There is AT&T. At least according to Engadget.

    • Eddie R

yeah, i was really surprised to see no AT&T… i was hoping to jump to Aio. Tmo is fine here tho.

  • David Goodfriend

See now this doesn’t make any sense. Public record states that there is no android 4.4. Its a fake!

  • Kofi Williams

To return to immersive mode, users can touch the screen outside of the bar bounds or wait for a short period for the bars to auto-hide. For a consistent user experience, the new gesture also works with previous methods of hiding the status bar.

OMG are you guys seeing these KitKat changes?

  • Jeremy Gross

and its not on verizon………blow up in 3,2,1

  • Paul

    Hey verizon. Blow me!

  • Respen

    Finally!

  • J Dub

Black 16GB is out of stock ish. Now not leaving the warehouse till Nov. 8th.

  • kfath1978

tmobile will be stocking it no date as of yet per tmobile phone rep i am on the phone w/ now…date TBD.

  • PowersUSA

When I was considering the Moto X I wanted the white back with black front (just like the developer addition). So going with the white Nexus 5 32GB.

  • OG Droid
  • Marco

    How about that Nexus 6?

    • Ej McCarty

leave. now. let us enjoy this moment.

  • Guy Meatdrapes

    ectoplasm….. ectoplasm everywhere

  • Joe Mihalich

I’m in, 32GB Black. The beginning of the end for my 13 year verizon run.

  • Blue Sun

Looks like only the black 16Gb version is available now? I’m glad I pounced on the black 32GB version. Warehouse ship date is now pushed to November 8th too.

    • Hmm, nothing has changed for me, I still see them all available, and shipping in 1-2 days?

      • Blue Sun

Now both the white variants are back on the store. Black 16GB is out of inventory now.

  • jbdan

I know it’s a drop in the bucket but look at all the bye bye vzw posts wow

    • Eddie R

      haha crazy!

    • Droidzilla

It isn’t a drop in the bucket. If there are this many here, there are even more unreported; and us geeks are the ones who steer friends, family, and coworkers. Big Red might actually take a hit from this that they feel.

      • SparkysShocker

It will be a drop in a bucket there are many more people who would not switch from Verizon due to its coverage. T-mobile is the only other provider I would consider but I can jump to them because of their week coverage. Network>Hardware

        • Droidzilla

Without numbers, we both just have opinions. We’ll see in a couple of quarters.

  • dazz1996

I dont see anywhere in the page telling what networks it will work with. I would like to order but I have verizon so If anyone can tell me where in the google playstore I can find this information thanks

    • Steve B

Confirmed. There will not be a Verizon version.

    • Paul

      Doesn’t work on Verizon.

    32 gig white, ordered 🙂

  • Boss As Hell

To eBay my unlimited data plan goes!

  • david ruiz

So is this one model of phone compatible for Sprint as well as the GSM carriers? Or will Sprints variant be a different model altogether???

  • Cody Revels

SO to be clear…….no Verizon right? Lol

  • Hatyrei

should i sell my LG G2? and get this one?

    • duke69111

In my opinion, you should do it only if you want stock android and immediate updates. Otherwise I wouldn’t. The G2 has been great so far with a better camera and battery.

      • Hatyrei

I ordered the Nexus 5 in a blink of an eye. rofl. I still have my LG G2 but having 2 phones is kinda impractical. Should I cancel my order? Or are they gonna update the LG G2 to kitkat soon? Or should I just sell it?

        • duke69111

I would bet you could probably get $400+ out of it on Ebay. I hope LG skips 4.3 and goes straight to 4.4 soon. I’m a bit jealous of those able to buy and use this phone, but I am completely satisfied with my Verizon G2 and the 3,000 mah battery.

  • topherct

Really…even Sprint! Verizon is the worst.

  • so will it work for verizon? people are saying the bands match?!

    • staticx57

      No verizon

      • no hope for the bands? I mean it doesn’t even say ATT on there

  • Yaniv

    Teary Eyes.

  • Justin Duncan

so will this work on Verizon lte and att?? just shows tmobile and sprint.

  • Tyler Casilio

And with the new Hangouts app, all of your SMS and MMS messages are together in the same place, alongside your other conversations and video calls, so you’ll never miss a message no matter how your friends send it.

  • DoctorJB

Only saw the 16gb black on the play store, thank you DL for having the other links!

  • Derin Richardson

I actually just cancelled my 16GB order and got the 32GB instead.

That was the scariest moment of my life. My hands are shaking right now as I am typing this.

  • Kofi Williams

    Nexus 5 Commercials FTW

  • ArrowCool

Got a white, and a black 32. Now I need to decide which one I really want….

Oh yeah…Verizon…in the words of the flight attendants in that old SNL skit….buh-bye

  • Guest

    Finally!

  • Eric Cappa

I’m sorry but that is not a white version, that’s an oreo version.

  • Rodeojones000

I’m confused. When the rumor of it being released today was posted on this site a week or so ago, some guy on here named Skittlez said it wasn’t happening. He said he spoke to an LG rep who confirmed it was going to be a late November release.

    • ninjawarren

      And he was wrong haha!

    • Blue Sun

Maybe he meant the Verizon version! /s

    • TuckandRoll84

Everything random people say on the internet is true.

      • NeedName

I believe everything on the internets. . . it’s all TRUE!

  • Bharath Kannan

lol us verizon customers are now officially screwed.

  • Jess

Google just posted a nexus 5 commercial on Twitter. Check it!!

  • NYAvsFan

YES!!!! Already ordered my black 32GB! Woot!

    • LionStone

      Same here, yeeHaw!!

      • palomosan

        Decisions, black or half white???????????????????????????????????

        • Ej McCarty

Normally I would say it ain’t right if it ain’t white, but this is a phone so get black or go home 🙂

        • rukkus78

the white speaker circle on the front looks goofy 🙁 i cancelled and ordered a black one.

  • Eddie R

“Carriers: T-Mobile, Sprint” what’s up with this?

    • hfoster52

What were you expecting??? Verizon lol

      • Eddie R

        ATT?

  • Jess B
  • Larry

    OMG, I think I just came. O_O

  • joejoe5709

Woohoo! Alright Google! There’s no avoiding it now! Let’s get an official announcement!

  • Traveler21

    Dear Google,

  • punkroyale

    Purchased!

  • imHOWIE

Sprint and T-Mobile network compatibility only? Sounds like a miss on Google’s part to me.

    • middlehead

It says Sprint and TMobile are the only carriers confirmed to be selling it, not the only carriers it will work on. AT&T will still work fine, you just can’t get it in an AT&T store.

      • LionStone

Plus T-Mo will jack up the price if you’re going to buy it outright, just like they did with the Nexus 4

        • Ej McCarty

I wish Verizon would do this. Honestly I would pay 600 for this phone if I could have it on Verizon

    • TimTheK

It has the right bands for AT&T so I am pretty sure it will work.

  • Siggy

This –> Reaching the next 1 billion usersBuilding a platform that makes mobile phones accessible for everyone has always been at the heart of Android. Until now, some lower-end Android phones couldn’t benefit from more recent Android releases due to memory constraints. With KitKat, we’ve slimmed down Android’s memory footprint by doing things like removing unnecessary background services and reducing the memory consumption of features that you use all the time. We did this not only within Android but across Google services like Chrome and YouTube. RAM (or memory) is one of the most expensive parts of a phone, and now Android can run comfortably on the 512MB of RAM devices that are popular in much of the world, bringing the latest goodies in Android 4.4 within reach for the next billion smartphone users.

          For you, good sir.

Too bad no carriers will dream of updating any older devices.

So much for the “future proof” arguments of late. . . . Google being intelligent and making Android lean and mean, not following Windows bloated pig path. Good news!!!

    • duke69111

Unfortunately this just gives oems a reason to continue putting pathetic specs in some phones.

If it’s not on VZW, why does it list:

    CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10
    WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/19
    LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/4

      Missing band 13.

      • argeebee99

Oh, I thought CDMA was only a VZW network.. Thanks.

      • AnotherAndroidKid

Missing 3 and 7 too to be a truly useful phone.

    • Tim Swann

it officially supports Sprint, but it might work on VZ

  • Nicholas Hrycun

  • Patrick Lahni

    Black 32gb ordered.

  • jbdan

    order placed yeah!!!

  • crazed_z06

    RIP MOTO X

    • my92agsr

about to buy moto x, only live in at&t 4g area…

      • TheDrizzle

That doesn’t make sense, the Nexus 5 runs on At&t LTE.

  • Taylor M

Just picked up the Black 32GB; total with tax, 2 day shipping etc $440.92..can’t leave Verizon fast enough!

  • Roubaix

So on the specs it shows cdma, does that mean it will work with vzw

  • DK

    Good bye Verizon

    • Really wish T-Mobile had good service where I am 🙁

    • Tony Byatt

      Perfect…

    • chris

what are you switching to? i was thinking ATT for that LTE?

      • d-rock

AIO is AT&T…limited to 8Mbps on LTE but that’s still nice and quick and AIO is much more affordable. AT&T Go isn’t bad either.

    • monkey082506

      AIO FTW!

    • Scott Tilney

Where does it say which networks it runs on? I can’t find anything on the listing. Is anyone sure that it doesn’t run on Verizon?

      • Butters619

We saw it leak through FCC. No Verizon bands except for an LTE band that they only use in a couple select markets. So best case, if you lived in one of those markets, you’d get data but no voice.

        • Scott Tilney

These are the supported bands listed in the Nexus 5 listing in google play. What are Verizon’s bands?

          GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
          CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10
          WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/19
          LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41

          • CDMA: Bands 2/5
LTE: Bands 4/13. 4 is very limited right now.

  • chazzdjr

So will it work for Verizon? the band information is confusing?

  • Cary Zuber
  • A.Miller

I got the 32GB in black!

  • Zander

    AHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  • Unlocked: Use with any provider that offers service on Nexus 5 supported networks
    Carriers: T-Mobile, Sprint

    • A.Miller

      AT&T?

      • i think it’ll be compatible with ATT its just not being sold by ATT?

im not sure lol. i hope the bands work for verizon

        • DoctorJB

It’s unlocked GSM, it’ll work on ATT bands 4 and 17.

  • A.Miller

    Bought it!

  • jonzey231

    Hangouts?

    • c_topher_v

This is all i freaking care about

  • Stephen Rice

32 GB in black purchased. Good bye Verizon.

    • T4rd

Verizon: Who are you again..? I can’t hear you over the other 20 customers that are replacing you. =p

    • Scott Tilney

Where does it say which networks it runs on? I don’t see anything about that

      • Stephen Rice

        Supported Service
Unlocked: Use with any provider that offers service on Nexus 5 supported networks
        Carriers: T-Mobile, Sprint

I think they forgot to add AT&T. All of their bands are there.

    • Pdiddy187

      Same. See ya big red!

  • Rocket Punch

    VZW compatible????

    • Dale

      Nope.

      • Jarred Sutherland

Still not sure why anyone expects another Nexus device on Verizon until CDMA is dead and gone.

        • Dale

          Works on Sprint.

          • Jarred Sutherland

            Yup. Which is not Verizon.

        • trophynuts

          This

  • and there she blows!

  • Jeff

32gb ordered, now I can get back to work.

  • GentlemanScholar

Just bought one black and one white 32GB. Returning whichever one I don’t want.

  • Butters619

    Ground Shipping: $10
    Two Day $14

    ….easy choice.

    • J Dub

Was hoping for free shipping. Using the Nexus 7 as a final price comparison this morning showed free shipping. Boo.

      • Butters619

I would have like free shipping as well, but it’s not a deal breaker.

    • A.Miller

Agreed. Would have paid for next day!

    • redbar0n11

Psst, Ground shipping can be as fast as 1-2 days, 3 days depending if you are not near the origination area. Ground shipments frequently beat express shipments.

      • Butters619

My local UPS definitely treats them differently. On multiple occasions I have had the expected delivery date slip a day when it’s already in my city when I do ground. So it will say expected delivery date 11/7 and will be local. Then at the end of 11/7 it will change to 11/8.

        • redbar0n11

Usually, that’s the fate of Express, not ground. They’ll hold Express because it’s not “due for delivery” yet, even though it made it there early. Retarded!

    • julian

      how much are the taxes?

  • Drooooid

    New Nexus 10?!

  • Drome

    black 32gb ordered!!!

  • Philip J. Fry
  • Matthew DiGiacomo

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • DK
  • just purchased!

  • epps720

Now starting to hate Google. How can they have an event to show off a few features on G+ but they don’t have an event to showcase the changes in KitKat?!

    • TheVoiceOfReason

They did awhile ago, you must have missed it…

  • Guest

Does this work on Verizon (Since it has CDMA & LTE)?

    Network

    2G/3G/4G LTE

    GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

    CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10

    WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/19

    LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41

    • Eldorath

Verizon relies on LTE bands 4 and 13… no 13 on it, but 4 does exist. Additionally, VZW’s CDMA operates on 0/1.. so definitely curious about this.

      • 4n1m4L

        Verizon would also have evdo.

      • Guest

If I am willing to use relying on CDMA 0/1 and LTE 4, would it work?

        • MichaelFranz

i think it would work. but honestly we will not know until somoene tries it. After that this thing sells hotter then it does right now.

        • Eldorath

IF Verizon would let you auth the device on their network (ala: Nexus 7)… which I don’t recommend holding your breath for, then I would assume, depending if you’re in an LTE4 market, it SHOULD.

Again, I’d recommend those people stuck on VZW to hold off, and see if anyone has any luck with it. (I doubt they’ll even get it on the network.. but we’ll see)

    • Droidzilla

Says right there on the page: T-Mobile or Sprint.

    • T4rd

Even if it is technically capable of working on Verizon’s network, Verizon won’t authorize it to activate on their network, so it doesn’t matter. Even if it’s only on their 700 MHz LTE band (which is supposed to be open to unlocked devices per the FCC), I’m sure they will fabricate a way to keep it off of their network.

      • Guest

What would happen if I use my already activated sim (Similar to Nexus 7 LTE)?

        • T4rd

That would probably be the only way to make it work.

        • DoctorJB

Data only service? The difference is that the N7 doesn’t use CDMA for 3G and voice. If you want to use those on a cell phone, you will need Verizon’s permission. This is why a lot of people are looking forward to VOLTE when everything will go over the sim-dependent LTE and, theoretically, you’ll be able to use any phone you want (as long as it supports the V bands).

      • NeedName

Verizon sticks a device in “testing” till it is no longer relevant. . .

And now the new FCC chairman is a ball sucker of the carriers things will get much worse.

        • T4rd

Pretty much what they did with the Nexus 7 LTE, so yeah.

  • bassmaster118

White 32 GB seems to be available.

  • jmich

    Just bought 10

  • jmsbwmn

WTF? It’s available for purchase, but there’s no product page for it on the Nexus site? Lame.

  • RGiskard

It says the phone leaves the warehouse on 11/5 (bummer), but should be here in a week…

Man, Amazon Prime has me spoiled!

  • DCX

    Order placed… 11/5 can’t come soon enough…

  • VZW_LOL

    Works on VERIZON!!! …no…

    • jeesung

      VZW has Band 4 & 13 LTE

  • besweeet

BIG QUESTION: when you return it, does the money go back onto your credit card, or does it go onto a Google Wallet account? If it’s the latter, then I’ll pick one up at a store somewhere.

  • BrianRoskamp

    Lots of accessories too!

  • my92agsr

    i don’t see an at&t option?

    • jpxa

      lol n00b

    • DoctorJB

Device is unlocked, it is confusing that AT&T isn’t listed though.

      • my92agsr

ahh, so the 4g lte will work on at&t? I thought it might, but when it wasn’t listed i got confused

        • DoctorJB

Better be, I got it for Straight Talk on the ATT LTE sim.

  • ITGuy11

Just got a 32GB in white!

    • Futbolrunner

He said during the show that posts were going to be blunt because there was going to be floodgates of android news

  • Okay, who’s got the scoop on the camera? I heard a rumor that it only takes 4:3 pictures. Anyone know if that’s true?

    • Tim242

      4:3 is standard.

  • Tim Swann

is this gsm? cdma? or do they have both variants??

    • DoctorJB

Unlocked GSM and Sprint CDMA, one device.

  • TheDave1022
    • trwb

      Got the 32gb white! Thanks!

  • thewogltd
  • jamdev12

It doesn’t say what bands it works on? Is it CDMA only? There is no info.

    • Eldorath

      Network
      2G/3G/4G LTE
      GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
      CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10
      WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/19
      LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41

      • James Heyneman

I looked up CDMA band classes 0 and 1 and they are 800Mhz and 1900Mhz respectively, isn’t that Verizon compatible, at least on 3G?

        • joder

Likely for Sprint but we can remain hopeful.

        • Eldorath

Verizon also has some LTE Band 4 deployments too.. but no 13 band… so I’m going to consider this an entirely YMMV atm. (and I wouldn’t be the one to volunteer to test it).

        • JohnThackr

Yes, for Verizon’s CDMA networks (not clear if they’d actually support it, but it’s the right freqs), but you’d miss out on most of their LTE coverage (13 – 700 MHz), which sort of ruins the point of Verizon.

    • Dale

      LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41
      WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/19
      CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10
      GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

      No Verizon LTE band 13

      • Eldorath

Does have Band 4, however…. hmmm.. will wait to see results people have.

        • j

no way verizon is letting you use this thing on band4.

          • Eldorath

*laughing* I was being partially sarcastic. Verge is reporting it won’t work at all on VZW.. so once again…. VZW pushing customers away. *shrug* Their loss.

          • Eldorath

However.. would like to point out:

            http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/15/verizons-lte-aws-rollout-begins/

I’ll still be interested in seeing if anyone can get it to work.. still, with the lack of Band 13, the limited markets would probably kill their willingness to even allow it on their network.

      • jeesung

does have Band 4 which is Verizon’s new one (limited markets)

  • Cael

    Nexus 4 is coming soon!

      • Droidzilla

Leaves warehouse in 1-2 business days, so the 5th seems like a good outside date (even though technically it should be the 4th). Can’t wait to get mine!

    • Zander

Mine says leaving warehouse by 11/5… So maybe sooner? 😀 Never hurts to be hopeful. Lol.

    • jnt

Yeah it made it sound like it would ship within a day, then said that after the fact… hmm…
