Minor DROID DNA Update Approved by Verizon, is Not the 4.2.2 Mega-update

Screen Shot 2013-10-04 at 7.52.29 AM

Remember the massive Android 4.2.2 update for the DROID DNA that Verizon detailed for us back in September yet never arrived? Well, Verizon has finally approved an update for the device, but it’s not that one. Instead, users will receive a 33MB update to software version 2.07.605.1 710RD, which only adds support for TalkBack. That’s it. No Android 4.2.2 or Sense 5 this time around.

More info.

Couse only CDMA device os the update

  • DeeHop

From now on, I’m buying a Nexus or Google Edition phone. The update thing with the carriers is getting old.

Did not break my foxfi, just tested it

  • K F

Just as a precaution, if your DNA or HTC device is working fine, avoid an update, it could destroy your phone. HTC sends some harmful updates sometimes, just saying.

Don’t take your vision for granted

I don’t seem to have been pushed this yet. Can anyone confirm if it breaks FoxFi? That is crucial for me. Love my DNA currently, haven’t had a need to root… But if this breaks FoxFi I am screwed!

If you care for s-off, don’t download this.
Any issues I had with my DNA, Team Viper took care of them: A LONG TIME AGO!

This is just a fix for the exploit that moonshine uses, nothing more.

Why would I install an update on my phone for something I never even use? Yeah, I’m not going to install this update or any update until they come out with what they promised us at the end of last month. Looks like I’m going to have fun with Go Launcher until then :P

    Booshit… Yea so helpful

    • LionStone

      Mine was 15.5 MB ?

      • Adrynalyne

Radios and bootloaders will add to that Talkback apk size lol.

  • Josh A.

    Verizon, you’re mocking me!!!

  • Daistaar

Exactly why I left both HTC and Verizon… Nonexistent support and an EOL of 3 or 4 months. If only I knew T-Mobile also rolls out updates slowly… sigh…

  • Adrynalyne

    Support for TalkBack? LOL…

Could have just downloaded it from the Play Store.

  • Detonation

Support for TalkBack: a nice cover for fixing the current root/bootloader unlock exploits.

    • Fiorta

      Exactly

      • TylerChappell

Yep, support for TalkBack already existed prior to this update. It’s always so nice to see them lying out their asses.

    • Adrynalyne

Considering its on the Play Store, it has to be a cover.

    • Eric R.

      The DNA already has it.

  • DJyoSNOW

My only girls is the stock browser always just randomly closes wtf ftw

  • yourmom

what is the point of these minor updates? why aren’t they just rolled in with the major system updates?

  • Kyle Miller

It pays to learn how to root. It just does.

    • JoshGroff

Verizon still hasn’t announced 4.2.2, been running Newt’s One port for months before I sold my DNA. If that’s not reason enough to root, I don’t know what is.

  • cortesjues

I read “Droid DNA update approved” and got ridiculously excited, and then you come and crash my dreams down!!! lol either way update is better than no update

  • Dominick White

Lets see how many idiots who are rooted take this update and then b*tch on the forums about losing root.

    • cortesjues

if people are dumb enough to take an update while rooted then they probably shouldn’t be rooted to begin with…..

      • JoshGroff

        Amen.

  • Dorian Brooks

    F#*% you, Verizon!!!!

And HTC for giving the One all of the attention.

      • Steve

Nope, still Verizon. This is old hat for them and their HTC exclusives (Remember the Thunderbolt?). HTC said to them “Hang on, the One will be out soon and we’ll all be one big happy one model family!” and Verizon said “I want it now! I mean, we can’t have people realize that they like me only because of my coverage area!”

And also typical Verizon “Oh this phone is better? well let’s drop the old one” “You’ve had it listed for only 4 months….” “Yeah, so?”
