Video: Qualcomm Humorously Ponders a World Without Cellphones and It’s Terrible

Smartphones as we know them haven’t even been around for 10 years, yet they have become so intensely woven into our society that many people out there probably couldn’t go a single day without their beloved phone. How would we get our emails? What about all those tweets that we all seem to complain about, but still can’t get enough of? It’s an interesting idea to think about – 2013 without mobile smartphones.

Qualcomm has made a short video, comically looking into a world that doesn’t have cellphones. Just as you’d imagine, it’s whimsical and scary.

What about you? Could you live in this world without a smartphone?

We got along fine without mobile phones for years. We had pagers and maybe a little more sanity in our lives.

The video is pretty good, but it also makes me wonder just how attached to thier phones some people are. I use mine for calling, texting, and music. Maybe 1 call every few days, a few texts every couple of days, and some music when I go shopping. (about twice a month at most.) My phone really isnt a big part of my life.

They pulled off a dead baby joke, didn’t think it was possible.

That was funny made me laugh.

Thank you for making the girl that needs a rebound wear those leggings. Kudos, Qualcomm. *tips hat*

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! $85 AN HOUR?? PLEASE tell me how to get in on this action! It can’t be as easy as going to that website!

  • Thank you for sharing this video with us. There are many interesting points in it.

I re-watched that video three times. Once for the experience, twice for the music!

So in a world without mobile, box televisions kill babies and brick walls smash distraught women. Makes sense.

I was phone less for about 3 months after I left Verizon, I thought it was pretty nice not having a phone for a while.

      Said no one, evar!

My OG Droid bricked one week before the Galaxy Nexus came out for Verizon so I was phone less for that week and it was kind of nice. Making plans was a pain since it all had to be done over Facebook, but I survived the week.

This is how I remember life before mobile devices:

I still remember sitting on the porch for hours with a cassette in the boombox waiting to record that ONE song. #oldpeopleproblems

Ya, back when it was safe for kids to sit on a porch for hours on end, without adult supervision. And now forced multiculturalism has ruined that.

          yeah, that’s it

      Ghetto blasters are still awesome!

  • kendokan

Uh, yeah I guess I did for about 20 years. The world continued to turn. We used phones a lot more (just for talking). There were a lot more pay phones. Pagers were a big deal.

  • Rojo623

    well that was weird.

  • Trevor

Hahaha that was actually quite entertaining. Motorola needs to hire their marketing people.
