Send in Your ROM Submissions for Tomorrow’s Custom ROM Friday

custom

We have an absolute blast going through your personal ROM submissions, so let’s keep it going. Over the past two weeks, we have asked you to provide a link to your favorite ROM that you would like us to feature on the site during Custom ROM Friday. It’s a great way for developers to finally receive some much-deserved recognition for all of that hard work they put into making our devices better, plus it gives other users out there a chance to try out a ROM they might not have heard about.

Here is an example of what we are looking for:

Hey DL brosefs, check out this Custom ROM for the “insert device name here.” You can see details about it at “insert link to forum/thread here” and it’s totally sweet because “insert various reasons why you need to share this ROM with the world here.”

Tomorrow, we will go over any submissions and write up a few to share with everyone.

Call me standard, but ParanoidAndroid is my way to go. It’s close to AOSP, but at the same time it has nice tweaks that everyone loves

    Shiny all the way

  • Ibrick

I wonder what this thread is going to look like each week once all you finally upgrade your GNex’s..
Makes it kind of pointless to bring up any ROM not currently available for the GNex..

    4.2.2 CM10 for original razr

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028020

So far, the only thing I’ve found not to work is the camera flash. Blue Tooth and other issues DO work

  • Lou

I hear you like ROMs… well, that’s good… that’s REAL good. Commotio/Vanir – B41 is the fastest ROM I’ve tried in some time… all the options you would ever want.

Shiny, GNEX, everything old is new again!

  • daf

Please somebody post a ROM for d2vzw that doesn’t suck in some way! AOKP Build 4 is ridden with bugs (hard-locks, reboots, data connection issues), and CM considers any presses on the home button “long-presses” and pops up tasks instead of home desktop.

    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/project-elite-nexus/189488-welcome-project-elite-gnex-section.html

Remember Project Elite from the old OG Droid days? He has been developing for the Galaxy Nexus. Awesome mix of extras with solid performance. It has by far been the best ROM I’ve used in months. Tried others, but always come back.

    • http://twitter.com/panther90 Sam Oerly

I was just going to ask if anybody had tried it. I loved them from the OG days! How does it compare to AOKP? I usually crack flash but new radios and AOKP Build 5 is running so smooth I don’t really want to change unless it’s really good.

I would love to see you guys cover shiny for the gnex! Love that ROM!

Slim Bean – Best AOSP ROM at the moment: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060612

    • http://twitter.com/ricecurryman ricecurryman

Here is their official site, http://www.slimroms.net/. For me Slim has given me the best battery life compared to CM10 and AOKP. But it keeps most of the features of both. And the team is very responsive to bugs or feature requests on both XDA and Rootzwiki. Definitely the best JB rom at the moment.

  • Neal
  • Pedro

Wow, what a weird sensation. After following DL since I got my OG, and through the Gnex year, it seems just a wee bit odd to see folks pimping toro builds, now that I’ve got the N4.

Anyhow, I build nightly for AOKP mako, adding an occasional cherry pick.
But I still like the the pink unicorn.

Hey fellow nerds..you gotta check ouy Darthstalker X for Verizon Galaxy S3. You can find it at XDA. It’s a blazing fast rom.

  • MCDroid

Hey guys check this ROM for the Galaxy Note 2 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032447, The developer does have similar ROMs for the GS3, etc. but I use the GN2. Anyways, this rom is AWESOME because is built from the ground up on TW. Although TW toggles and other elements are NOT included (which is GREAT), EVERYTHING works. There is a video on the set up and the customizations are endless (you can choose from 4.2 camera with sphere or regular camera, JB gallery or Samsung Gallery and the BEST part, you don’t lose ANY of the S pen capabilities All of your apps can be used on multy view and you get to keep s calendar if you want to. GREAT ROM

Baldwinguy77’s ShinyROM for the VZW Galaxy Nexus

    • Bigwavedave25

      It’s so smooth it’s SHINY… ;)

      • EvanTheGamer

Or it’s so SHINY it’s SMOOTH? Naw, the former makes more sense, haha! :)

        GO SHINY!

  • http://www.facebook.com/pierce.barcio Pierce Barcio

JBSourcery is amazing,,, I think pictures will do it more justice than words :D

    • JoshGroff

Yeah they will! Loved that ROM on my G-Nex before I got rid of it.

  • JaronDW
    • http://twitter.com/nickd53 Nick D

Same here. I think it’s interesting to note that, with Bugless Beast stalled out, it seems a lot of those users have migrated to Shiny.

      • EvanTheGamer

Indeed they have! I’ve been looking for a fast, stable, buttery smooth ROM for quite some time, then I started hearing all about Shiny. I took the plunge and never looked back. And with each new build, it seems like Shiny just keeps getting faster and smoother!

        Shiny is here to stay!

    • Guest

Anything similar to Shiny for the d2vzw?

      • JaronDW

I don’t think so, I think Baldwinguy77 only build for the GNex. But then again I only ROM shop for the GNex so I could be wrong. :)

    • AxemRed

      That’s what I use too.

    • http://twitter.com/expertontech Tylar Overturf

Why should they review this rom though? Its stock 4.2.2 with barely any changes. No need to review it since we all know what’s in stock 4.2.2.

      • CJ Tinsley

I think that there is enough of a following to warrant the review. Also their are a ton of little mods available to make most users happy without moving to far away from stock.

    • GreyDroid1591

      +1 Add me. Shiny

I’m running Linaro for the “Galaxy Nexus (toro), kanged off of AOKP. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106640 – So far it’s stable (the most important thing!) smooth, fast, infinitely customizable and I liked Aroma during the install. You can get it without Aroma if you hate it. Threw imoseyon’s latest 230 kernel in there and it’s been really good.

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

    Guys GS3 ROMS please!… I need mOAR

    • MichaelFranz

I submitted for Eclipse TW 1.2. Check it out its in the XDA GS3 VZW forum

      • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Oh I’m on the Sprint GS3 WOMP. But I’ll check for it anyway

        • MichaelFranz

there are instructions on how to port it. apparently its just replacing files from the VZW rom using 7zip from a good Sprint ROM.

  • Matthew Hochheiser

this rom will make you sick! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070947

a dev called iamtheonecalledneo has been cranking out amazing roms for the much maligned HTC Rezound. He’s brought us up to Jellybean 4.2.2 and keeps the all but forgotten device alive and running amazingly. This rom is blazingly fast and offers 5 variants to choose from.

    • ozo012

I agree, I’ve been on a bunch of the 4.2.2 roms and always come back to Neo’s!

  • Floyd

    ATOM with AK Kernel!

Hey DL brosefs, check out this Custom ROM for the Galaxy Nexus. You can see details about it at: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/36706-romaosp422332013-shiny-ota-like-stock-android-422-jdq39-no-bugs/ and it’s totally sweet because “It’s always SHINY on the other side of space!” (EvanTheGamer)

I second the motion for Shiny and stole a quote form you haha. :)

      • EvanTheGamer

Ah ha! Excellent! Really do hope they pick Shiny ROM for Custom ROM Friday tomorrow! That would be awesome.

baldwinguy77 deserves all the credit in the world for making his Shiny ROM the shiniest damn ROM on the planet!

    • Justin Wild

      Shiny FTW. Rock solid.

    • br_hermon

I’ll second this vote. Word is going around that Shiny is the new Bugless Beast

      • EvanTheGamer

And that word is truth, my friend! Shiny IS the new Bugless Beast! Man…let me tell ya, Pete would be so proud!

        • droid209

does it support quick pin unlock?

          • EvanTheGamer

I honestly have no idea about that, but feel free to ask on the ROMs official thread here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/36706-romaosp422332013-shiny-ota-like-stock-android-422-jdq39-no-bugs/page__st__3180

          • Bigwavedave25

If you mean not having to hit the “enter” key after entering your 4-digit pin to unlock, then no it does not support this. You still have to hit enter.

          • droid209

thanks. too bad, it’s the most used option for me.

          • Bigwavedave25

I would like to learn which xml controls that function so I could edit it myself. I have to use pin when my work email installed, does make things faster…

    • http://twitter.com/norsedakotan Chris Peterson

      ^^^ Yes! Shiny!

    • Bigwavedave25

SHINY. Stable, stock-ish, and rock solid.

    • http://twitter.com/SparkysShocker SparkysShocker

I second the vote for Shiny best thing in ROMing since BuglessBeast

  • Joseph Joffe

Is it worth mentioning that AOKP released a new build that includes support for the VZW and Sprint Galaxy Note II?

    • Jon

      It’s AOKP…no.

      • JoshGroff

What’s wrong with the pink unicorn?

        • Corey Foltman

everyone knows about it already, or at least should know about it. I still update AOKP on my VZW GNex tab…since i switched to Net10…

        • Mack

Well for me AOKP had too much going on and I prefer more simplicity, not to mention I ran into quite a few bugs. That was a while ago though, to each his own.
