WidgetLocker Beta Updated, Brings Bezel Swiping and Jelly Bean Options

Widget

Over the weekend, a new WidgetLocker beta was released for users, bringing new lockscreen options and functionality. For starters, users can now have a bezel on both sides of the device, which will allow for the placement of app shortcuts and also a camera shortcut, much like you see on Android 4.2. Shortcuts can be customized, much like everything else in the lockscreen replacement app.

Changelog:

  • Bezel Swipe left for apps.
  • Bezel Swipe right for camera.
  • Jelly Bean clock font option.
  • Redesigned settings page.
  • Fixes for home button on some devices.
  • Optimizations
  • No longer supports Android 2.1 and 2.2.(Android 2.3 required)

To get your hands on the beta, you will need download the regular version from Google Play. Once you are in the settings menu, long press on your volume down button and you will see a new option appear for “Labs” mode. From here, you can then download the beta update right to your device.

Play Link ($2.99)

Cheers Corey!

Am I overlooking the option for the unlock slider in the screenshot?

Anyone else having issues getting the beta to download? I enabled the experimental features set the beta to public but when I check for updates and hit update nothing happens.

Freakin’ A… I hate the Amazon app store. Haven’t seen an update for WL in forever!!!

Forward your Amazon receipt to me at kevin@teslacoilsw.com and I can send you a direct license.

I just converted to the direct license, had the amazon version of the app. Didn’t know it was possible. Now I can get all the updates without buying again from Play Store!!

I purchased your app from the Play Store a year or so ago, and have since moved to a different gmail account. Am i able to switch this purchase to my new account? Or perhaps refund and repurchase? Thanks :)

Just log in your old Gmail account to your device and switch accounts and then load the app in. I’ve done this with my parents Nexus 7 to give them my apps when I gave them it for xmas to show them what use the N7 has, and my brother and I do it on our phones and trade paid apps

Kevin, you are the man. Awesome dev from your products I have bought and a great guy all around form that offer. Thanks! (dang, only one up-vote to give)

From the Play Store version of WidgetLocker it’s actually Settings > long-press volume down for Experimental (renamed to Labs in the beta) > Beta Access > Public, then Settings > Check for updates

Please keep in mind this is a beta, some things may not work properly.

CircleLauncher has also really, really improved over previous versions. I havne’t had CL installed since I think the DX or maybe the early days of my G-Nex, but after going back to CL after I flashed Shiny ROM(which by the way is INCREDIBLY fantastic and buttery smooth), it’s like a whole different experience. Almost everything has changed.

But I’ll have to check out WidgetLocker and see what all the fuss is about.

I love CircleLauncher. My Home screen is built around it. No regular icons on my screen at all other than 3 Circle Launchers. Sure, it takes 2 touches to get to most things I use, but it only takes 2 touches and no scrolling to get to everything I need and I always know exactly where they are.

Does this app have the capability for pattern lock? I’ve wanted to change up my lock screen but I don’t think a 15-minute trial would be enough for me to justify buying the app.

I don’t know if it still works this way on the beta (I’m getting ready to find out), but on the current version in the store, you can leave the pattern lock enabled with the stock lockscreen. When you unlock the screen using WidgetLocker, you’ll get handed over to the normal lockscreen to enter your pattern before you can proceed. If you’ve used an iPhone, the process of sliding to unlock and THEN entering a password will feel familiar. The only quirkiness to all of this is if you have a delay set for your screen locking, you may find that WidgetLocker will still prompt you to slide, but you won’t have to enter a pattern because the delay was still in effect.

This app is worth the buy.

looks like I might be going back to widgetlocker

I’d agree, but I’d really love to see an LG-style lockscreen available before I jump back in… I really thought the ICS lockscreen they came up with was slick (Apparently AOKP did as well…they demo’d it but never released).

      Someday… ;-) (I’m optimistic.)
