Google Experienced Short Outage Across Multiple Services

The internet felt as if it had died moments ago, as almost all of Google’s services seemed to have experienced an outage. The outage only lasted a couple of minutes at most, but Gmail, Voice, Reader, Google+, YouTube, etc. were all down.

Hopefully, you all survived. There may have been a minor freakout happening over at DL HQ…

This probably has a connection with Hurricane Sandy. I’m in N.J. and internet services, TV, cell phone service is out in different parts of the state including up in Manhattan.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.

I might not have noticed had I not been working at Google at the time. It was a nice 5 minute break, then back to work….slave drivers.

They should have known better than to rely on Stormtroopers in their data centers. They never do anything right. (*stormtroopers are a registered trademark of Disney Inc)

There are all kinds of data issues routing through NYC, post storm. Wouldn’t surprise me if it was somewhat related.

I was wondering why iCalendar on my MacBook Pro kept popping up every five seconds yelling at me that it couldn’t connect to my GMAIL Calendar! What would Apple product do without Google services? lol

This is how the Chinese take us over: hack and control teh YouTubez.

  • Josh

It was probably a viral attack from Apple. But like most apple products, it was short lived…

Hmmm. If this continues … and the length of the outtages grow over time for each instance … it’ll be similar and synonomous to RIM’s NOC outtages – very famous & infamous. In RIM’s first 7yrs it didn’t have an outage; Google took 11yrs.
