Ice Cream Sandwich for Verizon’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE Rolling Out Now

Over the weekend, we first reported that Samsung and Verizon had approved the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE. Only one of our readers had received the update as of yesterday, but according to Big Red, it should be rolling out in phases to everyone.

Here are the highlights according to VZW:

The upgrade features the Browser Desktop View for Internet browsing and Data Usage widget, allowing users to monitor data usage. Ice Cream Sandwich also offers an updated Quick Panel for quick access to frequently used settings.

Additional Ice Cream Sandwich highlights include a redesigned gallery app with Photo Editor and Email Composer to send quick emails.

Did you receive this update yet? Does anyone own this tablet? (Only half kidding.)

Cheers Micah and Kerry!

Just got my Galaxy Tab 10.1 OTA ICS update! Now that I have my GS3 and my wife’s Razr Maxx running ICS, all we need is to get my son’s Bionic caught up. Come on Verizon, I might stop talking bad about you for a little while.

I received the update this weekend. But it seems slower with ICS. I see no other mention of this. Particularly in the email application. I was considering downgrading back to Honeycomb.

I’m loving the new look and feel of 4.0 on the Tab 10.1.
It really does seem to run better.

  • Bill

Installed yesterday, flash player no longer works. Reinstalled flash player to no avail. Considering factory reset.

Got the update. ICS great so far. You have to force it. Settings/apps/all/clear data google framework. yall can thank “kfath1978″.

I just got the update, version 4.0.4 ICS. So far so good!

  • aukuski03

I got the update Saturday night, so far so good.

  • CoCoCalypso

I got a system update but it’s definitely not ICS. System version says 3.2…

    • kfath1978

      Should be 4.04

    • Derek Ross

I think 3.2 was either the touchwiz update or the small securities update, I can’t remember which. I’m assuming you must have had touchwiz for quite a while, it seems like its been at least 9 months or so since that came.

  • Derek Ross

I just checked on my LTE 10.1 and I don’t have the update available yet. :(

Anyone here confirm they got it?

    • kfath1978

I got it on Saturday night. Try forcing it…
      Setting
      Apps
      All apps
      Google framework
      Clear all
Go back and check for update

      • Derek Ross

Any downside to doing that? Any data lost?

        • kfath1978

No downside at all. It just resets the check for update date.

          • Derek Ross

No change… guess I’ll just have to wait it out.

    • rick

Do a force quir of google services then check it again…takes about 2 times to get it to push through…its like a new tablet now! Wahooooo!

why does Galaxy get it before the Xoom LTE? Xoom wifi has had JB since the beginning.

  • Mike

    BIONIC?!?!?!?!

  • Me

Got it on my Wifi model weeks back. Makes it run like a completely different tablet.

    • kfath1978

      Yea its running awsome now!

So once every single phone/tablet on Verizon is updated to ics , they will start testing jelly bean?

    • michael arazan

I’ve been reading from a lot of articles and sometimes Verizon will not put out updates for phones if it is not worth it for them money wise, because they pay for the updates, and testing wise because it cost money to test the updates. Phone that are eol and not high margin selling phones will not get updated by Verizon even if there is an update available. Been trying to find out how many units of each phone has been sold by Verizon in the past 2 years but can’t find actual units sold just by popularity.

  • Buckoman

    It took this long?

    Pathetic. Step it up, Verizon.

  • Pdiddy187

Just curious how well the upgrade performs. I’m running CM10 experimental on mine.

Official ICS for the LTE GTab is fantastic. I actually use it again. Probably only a matter of time before the modem and camera drivers are implemented into ICS and perhaps JB roms.

This news has given me the need to change my underwear.

Anybody know when Transformer Prime TF201 will get it?
