DROID RAZR M Pre-orders are Live!

It’s live, the DROID RAZR M, if you want one. It will only run you $99 on a new 2-year contract or $549 at full retail. Described as having an “edge-to-edge” display, this is one of the more impressive devices at that price, at least on paper. It rocks out with a 4.3″ Super AMOLED Advanced display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 4G LTE, NFC, 8MP camera, and runs Ice Cream Sandwich (Jelly Bean soon). Not a bad effort from Moto.

No reason why this or any new android phone should come with anything less than jellybean.

I absolutely LOVE that the full retail on a $99 subsidized phone is $549!!! Are you freakin’ kidding me?!?!?!? I’m sure that will be the full retail on the other 2 phones, as well. Big Red is going to try to make it as difficult as possible to keep our unlimited data plans!

On the Verizon site it says $99.99 preorder, but when I actually go to order, it says $149.99. Anyone know why this is and if it will be corrected? I don’t see anything about a rebate mentioned.

    • Joe

Nevermind. They fixed this on the site this morning. Added a $50 online discount making the phone the advertised $99.

Does anyone here work for verizon? I’m on a 1400 minute share plan. I have unlimited data on my gnex, my mom has 2gb data on her razr maxx, and my dad has a dumb phone. He wants to upgrade to a smartphone now. In what way can he do that and I can still keep my unlimited data? It won’t let me online if I try to upgrade him to the droid razr M. I was afraid of this but I don’t want to move to the data share plans because I don’t want to lose my unlimited data. If I wanted, could I even move myself to my own account and keep unlimited data? I’m just guessing theres no way to get him from a dumbphone to a smartphone without moving to the new data share plans.

    • I am in the similar position with my Gnex and my parents with one smart phone and one dumbphone.. The way I understood it was that if you dont change anything one YOUR account then they wont take away your unlimited.. I think just he will be stuck on the Shared data plan and your mom and you will keep your existing plans.. If your mom wants to use a upgrade then she will be pushed to a share plan.. At least thats how I understood it..

I interpreted it as if he upgrades to a smartphone, all of us are moved to a shared data plan, and regardless of what contract the rest of us are in. And someone gave me a down vote for asking how to keep unlimited data, lol

I think if you update the dumb phone to a smartphone. Since it doesn’t have a data plan. They will make every phone you have go onto the new Shared Plans. We have the same Issue a dumb phone that wants to go to a smart phone but can’t without switching every phone to the new Shared plans.

          • C-Law

Ok thanks guys. That’s what I wanted to be sure of. I see it now on the pre order Page too. 2gb for $30 and we keep current plan. Damn was worried I’d lose unlimited forever!

  • What’s the purpose of a pre-order on a phone like this? Are they going to run out?

  • No.

  • shmigga

Lol! Edge to edge. I hope this isn’t what Samsung thinks edge to edge is.

  • As a Razr Maxx owner who is very happy with Motorola and who is also grandfathered into unlimited data, I’m facing a tough decision…there really isn’t enough here to sell my Maxx and upgrade to, but I also want to sell my Maxx this year while I can still get close to $300. Ugh.

    • Max

      I’m with you.

  • Devices need to come out with the current OS version. It’s sad the Android community accepts anything less from these manufacturers.

    • Diablo81588

Dude its been 2 months since AOSP was released. It takes a good 6 months at least to design and set up manufacturing for a device..

      • Release the device later. Invest more in R&D.

        • jahsoul

And then the device will be irrelevant Bionic style..lol

        • Diablo81588

So you would prefer that all phones be on the nexus release schedule? Have all of them released at the same time, so they overshadow each other? Smart business decision.

          • No one said at the same time, as it is manufacturers release too many devices which Motorola had admitted to.

          • they said they will changed that. I did not like them releasing so many devices in a short period of time.

          • I agree the nexus need to be ahead when it comes to updates. What is the difference between ICS and Jelly beans anyways. I love the ICS on my Razr.

      • azndan4

Uh no, it took literally a week to get Jelly Bean on the SGS3, and a month for it to get stable.

        • Diablo81588

You’re referring to an AOSP build, not Wiz’d.

    • I am agreeing with you, but remember that the razr was the first non nexus device with ICS 🙂

      • C-Law

Are you crazy!? This is far from true! Or are you only talking about Verizon?

        • I’m not talking about the ones that already came with ics like the one x series. From gb to ics Motorola was the first that release ics.

  • I am waiting for the Droid Razr Ultra Maxxx Triple HD Plus Plus Developer Edition..

    • Diablo81588

Why would they say Plus twice? Now that just doesn’t make sense…

  • nightscout13

I don’t see an edge-to-edge. I see a double chin. Though the price is nice of coarse.
