Turntable.fm App Released for Android, DJ Your Own Station and Share Music

Users of Turntable.fm can let out shrieks of joy today, as an Android application for the music sharing site has gone live in the Play Store. For those new to Turntable.fm (I am a total noob), rooms are created with up to 5 DJ’s. DJ’s have the power to choose which music is played and the songs can be either liked or lamed by listeners. If a song reaches a certain amount of lames, the song is skipped.¬†

Music stations are created from almost every genre of music you can imagine so you’re sure to find something that will suit your tastes. If you can’t find one you like, you can create your own. It’s a neat take on music sharing and is an excellent alternative to sites like Pandora, since you can discuss the music with fellow listeners in a ¬†comment section. Let us know what you think.

  • Anybody know how to get this app to scrobble to last.fm?

  • Zane

Hey I know! Let’s get a completely different app, by different devs, that’s not the same as an iOS app, just so it can be all our own. No. This is a rough and tumble kind of world and you’ve got to take what you can get. Plus you wouldn’t be able to use it with your friends with iOS. Calm your tits.

Except, their not even using the right share icon for Android. No share intents, right facing carets, probably no lockscreen controls, etc. It’s not about completely overhauling the app, but at least try and make it fit with the interaction paradigms we’re accustomed to. Oh look, it’s using the old style menu, hence the persistent onscreen menu button.

Damn complainers. As if free wasn’t enough…

Well, there are a lot more music streaming apps out there. Never heard of or used this app ever, and now, I will not.

          • EvanTheGamer

You actually should. Messed around with it a few hours ago, and it seemed to work pretty well. Even DJ’d a few songs, as well. It’s awesome, especially given the fact that it’s free.

Great way to listen to some rockin’ good music while working(if you work at your desk all day as I do).
