Instagram Receives Yet Another Update, Filled With Misc Bug Fixes

If you haven’t jumped on the Intsagram train yet, then what the heck are you waiting for? And before you say, “It’s just a bunch of hipster filters,” let me say that it is much more than that. Yes, you can apply tacky filters to your pictures, but it isn’t so much about the pictures you share, than whom you share them with. To sum it up, it’s a social network filled with personalities and people’s lifestyles seen through a lens. It can actually be quite fun.

In other news, Instagram for Android has received another bug fixing update. This newest build should address reports of photos showing up too small,  search fixes on HTC devices, camera crashes, and more. Honestly, if you haven’t tried it out yet, just go for it.

      had full-on Insta News!

  • BSweetness

I’m glad to see this site finally reporting on Instagram for what it really is – a social network for sharing pictures – instead of just knocking “hipster filters” and trying to equate it to the dozens of Android apps that only take pictures and apply filters without the social aspect.

… I’d like statements such as Instagram does not retain, sell, or store any of your contact data… Free is great, but stop collecting my data…

  • socalrailroader

It’s interesting you put that picture up, Mr.Marshall, aka the “Father of Loud” just passed away today at the age of 88-

  • Flyinion

Woah, Jim Marshall died?  (not that I knew he was previously alive still until now)  The music industry has definitely lost a pioneer.

Ok back to the regularly scheduled bickering 🙂

  • Lalelo

yay android taking i*honeies  1 app at a time

  • r0lct

Does it fix the fact it looks like an iOS app?  That’s a major bug.

    • Flyinion

LOL agreed.  I HATE apps that are direct ports and look & operate like the fruit version.  It’s like how as a PC gamer we get stuck with horrible console ports 99.5% of the time.

    • EvanTheGamer

Then don’t use the app? Ever thought about that? Apparently not.

      • r0lct

I don’t. I took a couple pics the first day and have since lost interest. Especially since it looks like iOS.

  • Droidzilla

I prefer to use another app to make my photos look like crap and then share them with other people who also like crappy photos. I’d tell you what it is, but you’ve probably never heard of it.

  • Liderc

Took like 3 pictures with instagram and then haven’t touched it since.  If you don’t care about the social aspect of it, it’s fairly useless.

    • LionStone

Yea I know I don’t…I use FB, G+, a smidget of twitter, that’s enough for me…don’t need any more. I think the i crowd gathered to Insta. because it was exclusive and that’s it, why flock to G+?

  • Why would I use this versus Google+ and/or Facebook? This is a redundant over-hyped product that is only getting this attention because it was exclusive to iOS. This is absurd, although an awesome way to make sure Android-tards are sure to download it.
OOOH now Android has it, look at that iOS people, I’m using it right now. Siri? No one gave a crap or should give a crap for that stuff. Android users hear how dumb it is, but secretly want it to the point that we have to keep seeing posts about IRIS and other rip offs that don’t even work as well as a product for which we have no use in the first place.

Please stop advertising for this redundant software app.

  • Ew teh Iphone keep posting pictures of hipsters on our Instagram!

  • Hm. I see no update, and the fixes you list are the same fixes that were released a few days ago. Stale post?

  • Michael_NM

    Dear Tato,

Geraldo Rivera doesn’t approve of your hoodie. 😛

  • Instadroidtips

Also, here’s a pretty neat post from a Instagram on Android blog about how to use Diptic to combine photos. http://bit.ly/Hgacdm

  •  I’ve noticed a large Thai population in the “Popular” section.  Or that might just be during the times I looked at them…

  • Aardvark99

I’m not updating, I’m keeping it retro.

    • TJEgan

Careful! Don’t let the iPhone hipster-ism suck you in!

      • Aardvark99

I used Apples before they were cool. Apple II’s, but you probably never heard of them… 😉

        • Michael_NM

I had a IIgs. That was my last Apple purchase. 😛

          • Aardvark99

(OK, breaking out of “hipster” aardvark)
That’s funny, **my** last Apple product was an Apple //c! I got it when it first came out and used it to death, I even hooked up two(!) 3.5″ drives to it (not 5.25″, 3.5″ – high tech, yo). Wish I still had it.

  • AndrewScottRox

I agree. I didn’t realize that there was a whole social scene on there. It’s actually kind of nice seeing the pictures that didn’t make it to facebook and twitter. With that being said, Lightbox is the same way except my friends aren’t using it.

    • “Lightbox is the same way except my friends aren’t using it” — exactly

      • AndrewScottRox

I’d love it if they were. It’s a great app!

        • Instagram is to Lightbox just like VHS is to beta (or ethernet is to Token Ring). The reasons technologies survive may have little to do with their merits in isolation; there’s an ecological and marketing effect.

  • Kyle Fullmer

I don’t use instagram out of respect for iphone users.  They were taking pictures of fix speeds and scarves WAY before android was.

    • EvanTheGamer

Really? Out of respect? Wow……hell, I’d use ’em out of spite. But I don’t…I use those specific apps on Android because I want to use to, and because I can.

      • zepfloyd

pretty sure you missed the invisible /s at the end…

    • Tatsuo

Like “they” really know what you’re using.  Wow…

    • James_C_L

      lol what a dick

    • Out of respect for Iphone users, not a poop has been shat without it being photographed and uploaded to Instagram.

    • Fix speeds are for children. Kinda like their phone. Real men ride Road Bikes.
