Google Docs for Android Receives Update – Real-time Updating With Multiple Users Included

Can you think of a cooler release than Google Docs getting the ability update in real-time from multiple users on multiple devices in a document? Maybe if it also poured beer, but for now, this will have to do. In the latest Google Docs update for Android, you and your crew can edit documents from anywhere with a tablet, phone, or computer and see it all happen in real-time. While editing with multiple users, you can see exactly who is in the document and what and where they are typing. It works seamlessly too.

The Google Dos update also includes:

  • Rich text formatting
  • Layout tools
  • Cursor presence (which has to do with real-time updating)

Ah ha!  Now I know where Google Wave went to.  I heard about it and was following the progress, waiting anxiously for it to be released, and it just disappeared.  Back then I was really disappointed in Google for giving up on a very useful program, but now i see they were just integrating it into their other software.  +1000 Google

Amazing app. Would be very helpful to many of us. Meanwhile, I’ve come across some new tools which looks very interesting and handy, for collaboration.
One such tool is CollateBox http://www.collatebox.com/ . Just registered with this one found their video looks neat..Eagerly waiting for this one.

Even more proof Microsoft’s Google Docs hating video is stupid and is just going to start a unneeded war imo

YES. Now I can finally dump evernote and keep all my class notes in Google Docs. Finally! (I take notes on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 – and it was an ABYSMAL experience before)

This is a step in the right direction.

The editor is so much better. It was pretty much unusable before if you were using a physical keyboard (attached or bluetooth).

I don’t know that I’d have use for the real time editing.. awesome nonetheless. However, all of the other new features were definitely need and make me pretty happy.

It is great, my first google doc was because we had a situation where multiple users needed to edit the document in real time simultaneously. Which seeing as that was 2 years ago it was about the only option, and it worked better than I expected.

Awesome. This was such a needed upgrade!

I think that’s the best feature of GDocs, period. Now on my phone, awesome.

    Cheers Google.
