Call of Duty Team Announces Android App At CoD XP 2011

This past week there was a little shindig going down in Los Angeles. Call of Duty decided to throw a party for its fans and what a party it was – there were paintball battles, real life CoD maps laid out for people to see and somewhere in the vicinity of 2,000 Xboxs on hand. But one interesting piece that came from the event was that there would be an Android, and iOS, application coming out soon with the release of Modern Warfare 3.

Now, this isn’t going to be a game by any means. This will be an application that ties directly into CoD’s new stat-tracking and social networking experiment called Call of Duty: Elite. This application will definitely allow you to look at your loadouts in-game through your phone and let you make changes while you’re on the go. Those changes will be waiting for you when you get back to the game later on in the day. Cool, huh? Since I got to beta test CoD: Elite (my full story here) I can see that this application will most likely allow you to track your stats for bragging rights when you’re out with your buddies. If they decide to fully implement all that Elite offers it’ll even allow you to look up maps from the game which provide spawn points and other intel and will give you videos that you can watch that are made by CoD players and even some videos breaking down how to use certain guns. Unfortunately there hasn’t been a definite release date for this application yet, but look for it around the time MW:3 drops, November 8.

And simply because it looks so ridiculously good, here is the new trailer for MW:3:

Should be an interesting little application if it lives up to what CoD: Elite was about. Any gamers out there excited at this news?

Not impressed. Looks just like Modern Warfare 2.

Ahh exactly what we need, another FPS to turn people into mindless zombies.

..woohooo.,.I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use CentHub.cōm

This is Black Hat SEO. At least try to plug a backlink with relevant content.

Doesn’t look like much improvement from mw2 but they have so many more feature that make it worth it of course the addition of elite and clan levelling bring much more competion from the ordinary random noob you play. Though not a visual upgrade like battlefield 3 but also the graphic mostly seen are from computer play instead of console play. I’m a gamer would love cod franchise and also going to purchase bf3. Don’t understand y fanboy fight over their game at other website but here me fighting that it better get on Android b4 icrap Lmao

Call of Duty has to be one of the most overrated video games of all time. HALO FTW!!!

Is this Mw3 or Mw2? They look identical.

Definitely looking forward to this game!!!!!  As well as the app…

  • And for the ppl who think this is just the same old COD, (which I thought before playing it this weekend), it definitely is more polished in the multiplayer department, with more customizations and balancing than ever before.

  • Yea, I was at COD XP this weekend, which was awesome. We got to play the game, which is definitely the best COD yet, and Im am definitely excited for this app as well!

I wonder if we will have to pay for each levels?

sounds real pointless to change your load out on the go

you can only play on the pc, so why would i care about changing my load out unless im at the PC

i dont see anyone using this app for more than the first 10 minutes they DL’d it

    • Call of Duty fans are some of the most rabid out there. This will get eaten up real quick.

      • I’m a COD addict.  However, there has never been a time I was out at the bar or whatever and talking about stats.  If women thought my Kill/Death ratio mattered this app would be great but I try to keep my COD playing a dark little secret.

          Dont we all.

These first-person shooters give me a headache after like 10 minutes.

Also, last week I went to my sister & bro-in-law’s house. I go down to the basement, my nephews are playing medal of honor or something …and the 4 year old is telling the 6 year old “shoot him in the head, shoot him in the head!!!”

Ahh, little miracles. They grow up so fast anymore.

  • I’m currently in the COD:Elite beta and it is more than just stats. I’ve been in tons of contests that just breath new life into the game. I got gold in the contest for the damn Jeep. I wonder who actually won that.

    • I really REALLY was hoping that I’d get put into that drawing too haha.

The app is sorta old news. Been in the beta for some time. It’s a pretty fun service.

    • How is the app old news? They haven’t released an app for the beta yet.

  • Yeah I beta tested it too, I do not think I will buy it though, most of it we already had or were close to the just made it look better and more accessible

  • Derp

    BF3 or bust IMO

    • I’m a Battlefield man myself but this looks interesting at least.

    • Definitely. I wasn’t going to get MW3 because it looked like nothing new, but then I realized I haven’t played a CoD since 4, so I might get MW3 for nostalgia’s sake.

  • Call of Duty is the same game every year with a new name.

Couldn’t agree with you more. I buy 1 out of every 4 when they make a new engine. The campaigns are really fun, even if they aren’t groundbreaking.

    • Call of Duty is the Madden of the FPS genre. There is a slight change and that slight change is enough for you to enjoy it for roughly a year until they release another game with a new feature or two.

    • Are you kidding me? The depth and features of the multiplayer mode have pretty much doubled with every release….

      • Anonymous

That’s pretty easy to do when your multiplayer is below average

        • hahahaha ok… Within 24 hours of going on sale, the game sold more than 7 million
copies, 5.6 million in the U.S. and 1.4 million in the UK, breaking the
record set by its predecessor Modern Warfare 2 by some 2.5 million copies.[12][13] A subtitled version was released in Japan
on November 18, 2010. A Japanese-dubbed version was released on
December 16, 2010. After six weeks on release, Activision reported Black
Ops had earned $1 billion in sales.[14]

Pretty sure they are doing something right.

What else would you play on a ps3? Every ps3 owner probably has these games.
