Reminder: Samsung Galaxy 10.1 WiFi Tablet Goes On Sale Tomorrow

Looks like we will have another gorgeous device to acquaint ourselves with and welcome to the Android family, this Friday. The newest Honeycomb tablet to hit the streets is the uber-thin Samsung Galaxy 10.1. We were lucky to grab ourselves a limited edition tab when we attended Google I/O, and even did a quick hands on video.

If you’re looking to pick one up, definitely hit up all the usual suspects: Best Buy, Amazon, Fry’s, and Newegg. Best Buy seems to be the only retailer with white though, if that tickles your fancy. The 16GB version is going to run you a hefty $499, while the full 32GB is $599. We have a full features video from Samsung as well for all our tablet obsessed enthusiasts.

So who’s picking one up?

    They should make it cheaper

Picked up the 32Gig model tonight from Best Buy.  Totally smooth. I’m used to my Macbook Pro and have a Moto Droid (familiar with Android).  Very well built piece of technology. I can see why Apple’s nervous about this tablet!

  • Michael Martin

Just giving a heads up again, I stated that Samsung told me at the launch on the 8th that the 32GB was having problems and wasnt going to be sending them out for 2 weeks from that date. I just called 2 Best Buys and they do have both gray and white but only in 16GB formats……guess I cant swap mine just yet.

I love how people are clamoring for a tablet with lesser specs at a higher price that follows crApple’s design aesthetics.

No thanks, the new overhyped garbage.

I’m really hoping Costco gets it because I want to be able to try it out with a good safety net.

  • KraYzeE

I want one SOOOO bad, but boss wants the 4G when it comes to VZW so i gotta wait.

  • Welcomematt78

I preordered mine on the 11th through Best Buy. Its been torture waiting for it to arrive. I called and I might be able to do an in store pick up for it tomorrow, I really hope so cause I’m itching to get my hands on a tablet. And the Galaxy Tab is just sooooooo pretty.

  • Mrcookjr

16GB that isn’t upgradeable?  I really want to like this but I think the Xoom beats the pants off of it.

    • Jmyaer

xoom can’t beat the tab for weight or screen, it’s lighter then the xoom and has a better screen

Who gives a shit about a couple ounces or millimeters difference.

As someone who has owned the 3g and wifi Xoom as well as the Transformer, it makes a big difference.  When you’re trying to read a book or something and want to hold it with one hand it’s alot more comfortable with a lighter tablet.  And I realize that even the heaviest honeycomb tablet isn’t all that heavy, it wears on you when you’re supporting all the weight with nothing but a couple fingers.

how fat and out of shape are you people…..i have a acer iconia and there is no issue w/ the extra weight

I’m picking it up at Best Buy on Saturday with my girlfriend. Still trying to convert her to Android. I’m thinking this sexy thing will do it.

Want one.  Waiting out some more reviews, OS X compatibility.  Kinda tempted to just wait for Kal-El.

Got mine this morning from Tiger Direct!

Mine is ordered from Amazon! Hoping for Saturday delivery.

  • Ĵono Reĝo

Well, I asked the dev of the Voodoo Sound and Color kernel patches on Twitter (@supercurio) if he thought the Galaxy Tab was worth the extra $100 over the Asus Transformer. His answer was a resounding yes, and apparently the screen is amazing. Definitely getting it now.

I will be getting one for the wife to replace her Transformer…  By the way, Transformer for sale with keyboard dock…lolol

    • Medarj

      how much is the transformer?

      YAY another Camaro owner here.

I want this, but am going to wait as this isn’t as much as a necessity as a phone and the lack of any SD slot makes me wary as well as the limited (let’s not kid ourselves) app selection, but I love the form factor (thinness).

I hope they do advertise this VERY heavily and get the high volume of sales to light that fire under developers’ behinds. Without that, what real advantages does this tablet present over the iDevice. And lets not get a flame war going..”IT’S GOT FLASH..WIDGETS…NO WALLED GARDEN…blah blah blah”.. I don’t want an iDevice, but I want something that fits that niche so I don’t need the laptop as often.

  • zzz525

I’m picking mine up on my lunch break tomorrow at BB :)

  • caseyisajim

I got the Acer Iconia A500 16GB for $380….not the tiniest thing, but pretty good specs for the price.  For the money, I’d rather have the Acer.

  • Spencer9663

    7000 mAh? Nice.

  • Ĵono Reĝo

I’ll have this baby in about two or three weeks, can’t wait. I considered the Transformer, but the opinions I read from buyers on XDA weren’t very encouraging.

I was thinking that if anything I would go for the Toshiba Thrive…unfortunately there has been little or no coverage on it here at DL :-(

  • http://twitter.com/HKYZLYF Tony D.

I am definitely getting one……this Xmas

  • Firelight

$499 (16gb) + $20 for the USB dongle = #FAIL next to ASUS EEE Pad Transformer for $399.

    • Jmyaer

I guess if you like a tablet that’s a pound heavier, I’ll take the lighter one anyday

      • Firelight

        1lb= $120 worth of awesomeness? Uh …

        Also – there’s this:

ASUS Transformer 32GB With Klipsch Headphones + 8GB SD Card For $475 On eBay

        • suhpreme

$120 is nothing to some people.  And to others it’s totally worth $120 (even if it’s a lot) for the slimness.  I wanted the transformer until I picked it up and tried it out next to the 10.1.  There’s no comparison, my friend.  None at all.  I’m totally glad the Transformer was out of stock for so long or I would have made the mistake of buying one.
