Deodexed Gingerbread Released for DROID X

If stock rooted Gingerbread (Android 2.3) for your DROID X wasn’t enough to satisfy your needs, then you’ll want to grab the newly released DEODEXED version that just went live over at My Droid World.  Why would you want a deodexed version?  To flash themes of course!

Instructions:

*DROIDX ONLY.

1.  You HAVE to already be running the rooted Gingerbread.
2.  Read step 1 again.  Good? Proceed.
3.  Download:  dxgbrooteddeodexed.zip [mirror] [mirror]
4.  Drop the file on the root of your SD card.
5.  Using the D2 Bootstrap, reboot into recovery. [Yes, D2 Boostrap]
6.  Choose “install zip from sd card”, “choose” the file from above.
7.  When finished, your phone will reboot and appear to bootloop, which is fine.
8.  If it bootloops for more than a minute or 2, pull the battery and reboot.

Note 1 – If it doesn’t work the first time, try wiping data and then re-flashing the file.
Note 2 – If you are having syncing issues afterwards, perform a factory reset a couple of times.
Note 3 – If you are missing apps from your market, here is the fix.  [courtesy of JRummy]

Let us know if you run into any issues!

I had the same problem. I was trying to get rid of the sync icon by doing the revommended data wipe/factory reset. Went into bootloader and connected to the phone, it was still able to sbf even though the phone didn’t really register. Still have the sync notification though.

Anyone having issues with videos not syncing with media?
I’ve done a factory reset & everything works awesome other than this, ie when I attempt to play a video from the sd card, it doesn’t match the sound. Super annoying & I can’t seem to find anyone with similar issues

Stuck with infinite boot-loop. Do I SBF?

  • LD01

This worked almost as described. I did not bootloop (persay) but my phone sat on the droid eye for about 3-4minutes and then it did the little vibration, indicating it was ready to move past the droid-eye animation.

Follow directions peeps and it should all work out. Make sure you are on root GB > then use the deodexed Root GB >

Read the forums on mydroidworld and other places if you run into problems. Enjoy GB on DX!

how long did you let the droid-eye sit before trying to re-flash?

Also, if the signature if failing you should probably try to download the zip again from Kellex’s link (which is from mydroidworld)
