We just posted news of a Droid Incredible update that should start at any time and failed to realize a major addition that will come with it.  The VCAST App store will apparently make its debut.  Normally I ignore anything with the word “VCAST” in it and I’m using that as my excuse, but this is pretty big news.

Update:  Verizon has released a statement confirming the VCAST app store and the Incredible as the first device to see it.  The update will start rolling out next week…(via Phandroid)

“Verizon Wireless will begin pushing a software update to the DROID Incredible next week. The update includes software enhancements that will pre-install V CAST Apps on the phone. We said earlier this year that we’d be expanding V CAST Apps to the Android platform, and the DROID Incredible is the first Android phone with the store. Developers continue to submit apps, and as a reminder, V CAST Apps allows carrier billing, so customers who purchase applications through our store will see those charges on their monthly bill. For more information about the update customers can go to www.verizonwireless.com/droidincrediblesupport.”

Verizon announced this new app store a couple of months back and there were rumors suggesting it would be out by the end of the year, but did anyone expect it before Thanksgiving?  For those not sure exactly what the point of this VCAST app store is, just understand that it will be a separate market for you to buy and download apps from.  The selling point here is that you can bill those purchases straight to your Verizon account and pay them all off at the end of each billing cycle.

I guess they found some developers.  This is interesting stuff…

Cheers MOTOX for pointing it out!
