European Milestone Froyo Update Trials Begin Next Week

Android 2.2 for the Motorola Milestone has been quite the hot topic over the last few months.  Some countries were left out entirely when it was announced, only to be included after owner outrage, but now with the timeline semi-locked down Moto is ready to start testing.  The European Milestone is up first for user trials…

Hello. From next week we start user trials of the European Milestone upgrade to Froyo. Once these are complete, we will know what further work is required to
optimise, before going into final testing and approval stage. As previously we plan to start rolling the update at the end of this year, but wanted to keep you updated. Thanks

Looks like Moto is setting its sights on that Q1 2011 deadline.  And how about this super early progress report?  You’ve got to love that.

Man that is ludicrous!!! open bootloader original droid has been running different versions of froyo since it leaked out from the Nexus one trials, that is what…six months??? Motorola should have enough experience to know how to do this upgrade. I suppose that there trying to see if it runs okay at 600Mhz. I'm happy that finally the rest of the world will enjoy froyo, but certainly to wait this long in not fair. What is there to test?

  • i sense someone leaking the firmwares 😀

Sorry, not the “sdk” but rather the user trial version.

  • ChrisB

Ok, so release the sdk and let's get the guys at xda to build us a custom Rom with true 2.2.

What testing needs to be done? There were like two test builds and two full Froyo releases for the DROID, this is the exact same phone with a few different widgets, locked bootloader, and GSM radio. Take the American build, get some coffee and spend a few hours mashing in the GSM baseband, test it, and push it out. This should take like, weekend.

    “The phone without compromise.” 🙂

Is the Milestone not the same device as the D1? If it is, was the American rollout the “trial”?

  • europeans receive, brazillian will get too xD… its globalization o/ xD
