Where can I get the DM Updaters? The link above seems to be expired or something.

  • david

When I try this it always fails saying something about eocd marker and it's being placed after the start of eocd file and aborts.

No, this will only work with 2.0.1. To root a 2.2 device, you need EasyRoot. See this post: http://www.droid-life.com/2010/08/09/easy-root-
Get it from their blog (Link at the bottom of the linked post)

Once I install it and open it it says theres a update available ( Install ) ( Quit) i click install and I have to buy the freaking update for $20 bucks! This is a bunch of bullsh!t!!!

  • arirang

when 2.1 OTA was being pushed, like many of us, i didn't wait and did the manual install [update.zip] and have left update.zip in the root of SD since. do i need to remove that update.zip prior to running DM?

    • Leo

ya remove it from your SD card or copy over to your computer and rename it to android 2.1 update 1 or something like that so you know what it is. Just remember to name it update again if you would ever install it for some reason again.

Ok, so I still don't have an answer as to why I keep getting an installation aborted message on my phone when I try to root it. I was told if my version of software was 2.1, then I could not root my phone. Where would I look to find what version I have? And if I do have this version, does that mean I really cannot root my phone? I was able to get the dm updater, but it kept upgrading to the newest version when ever I tried to open the program. Would the new version becausing me trouble while trying to root? If I can still root my phone, what do I need to do to get it rooted? Please help!!

    • Musicalalliecat

If I use one or both of these programs, 2.0.1 root update.zip and Droidmod 1.0 Updater (alt link), would it fix the problem I am having with the installation aborted message when I try to root my phone? Which one should I use? What would happen if I use them? Help!!

  • Musicalalliecat

can this be done on 2.1 OTA version?

  • ihateemobands

I keep getting an “Installation aborted” message while trying to install the update from the android system recovery screen.

    It says
“E:EOCD marker occurs after start of EOCD
    E:signature verification failed
    Installation aborted.”

I do have android 2.1 installed so I was wondering if that's the problem?

you can download it from your phone… go to droidmod.com

  • jeesung

so i took the plunge and installed DroidMod. now my phone doesn't charge when hooked up via USB to my computer, which it used to do. i can only charge via the wall-charger.

i dug around in settings and couldn't see anything to change this. maybe i missed something.

is this typical? or did i miss something?

  • donaldwatkins

    • kellex

Try a battery pull and then reboot it.

      • biggantlive

ok tried that and it went to reboot command, then i clicked reboot and it showed moto sign blanked out then moto sign came back on and its still stuck at that screen?

      • shay

        Kellex,

Great how to video. I am also having the same issue as biggantlive. I have tried the battery pull several times and now the moto logo comes on and off. Not sure what to do from here.

  • BBOYtwizted

I cant seem to get DMUpdater to show up on my phone…Any help. I did download it and then mount my phone and dragged it over to my SD card. Am I missing a step?

    • waldizle

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I DOWNLOADED FROM WEBSITE, MOUNTED MY PHONE AND COPIED IT TO MY SD. ONCE IM DONE WITH THAT THE FILE IS ON THE ASTRO MANAGER AS A ZIP FILE WITH ONLY 5 OPTIONS: ANDROID MANIFEST,CLASSES,META-INF,RES, AND RESOURCES ….PLEASE HELP!

      • StingRay

Do you have the “Unknown Sources” box checked under Settings>Applications? If not try that…Droid will not let you run an .apk file obtained from outside the Android Market unless you do.

    • donaldwatkins

just woundering if you found out the problem haveing the same
