July Android Security Update Goes Live for Nexus, Pixel Devices

Google just dropped the July 2018 security patch for Nexus and Pixel devices on us. At this time, we already have both factory image and OTA files, so choose whichever works best for you if you don’t feel like waiting for the update to show up on your device.

So far, we are seeing new 8.1.0 files for Pixel 2 (OPM2.171026.006.G1, OPM4.171019.021.Q1) and Pixel 2 XL (OPM2.171026.006.H1, OPM4.171019.021.R1), Pixel and Pixel XL (OPM4.171019.021.P1), Nexus 6P (OPM6.171019.030.E1), Nexus 5X (OPM6.171019.030.E1), and Pixel C (OPM4.171019.021.N1).

Google’s phones are getting the July 5 security patch level.

To check to see if the update is live, head into Settings>System>System Update.

For notes:

  • Google shows Pixel 2 build OPM4.171019.021.Q1 as being for T-Mobile. The other build should be for all other Pixel 2 phones.
  • Google Shows Pixel 2 XL build OPM4.171019.021.R1 as being for T-Mobile. The other build should be for all other Pixel 2 XL phones.
