Most people will agree that Spotify’s streaming service is a great service, but the only problem is that you can’t take it with you. Unless you paid for Spotify Premium, streaming has been a desktop and laptop only service, until today. Starting today, Spotify can be streamed on phones and tablets for free, as long as you follow the rules.
Using Spotify on your phone, you will have to use the “shuffle play” option if you want to stream. This lets you pick an artist or playlist, and Spotify does the song-changing for you, as well as throws in a few ads here and there. Streaming on a tablet gets you a little more freedom, as you are able to choose the songs, playlists and artists, but still get the occasional ad.
Exciting news for the lovers of music streaming out there, but not if you are on a tiered data plan. Any Spotify users going to make use of this service?
