If you listened to The Droid Life Show from last week, then you’ll know that we have two weeks of contests ahead of us that are filled with tablets, tablets, and more tablets. For this week, Google is the host, having offered up five (5) Nexus 7 32GB HSPA+ tablets and $25 Google Play gift cards to go with them. Together, they make for one hell of a holiday pairing. You get our favorite tablet (Nexus 7 review), plus $25 to spend on content for it. How can you beat that?

So each day this week, we’ll be handing out a Nexus 7 and a Google Play gift card to one amazing reader. The contests, as usual, will be simple so that everyone can join.

It’s day three of our week-long “Awesome Sauce DL Google Play Contest” where we’re giving away $25 Google Play gift cards. Yesterday’s giveaway reached a total of 880+ entries, which gives us some great motivation to do these types of things a lot more often. After today, we still have tomorrow and the following day for more chances to win, so let’s do this. 

Day 2 of our week long journey to hand out $25 Google Play gift cards to the Droid Life community! Yesterday, we saw almost 1,000 entries in a short 9 hours, which is a pretty amazing number. Today, though, same deal. We have one gift card to give away, with the winner being chosen later this afternoon. Tomorrow and the rest of the week will be a similar deal. Who’s ready?

Each year, as we approach X-mas, we try to give DL readers an opportunity to win a variety of prizes. For example, we gave away a Tegra 2 device a day for two weeks, last year. And while there may be something similar happening again this year, for now, we’re talking gift cards. Five of ‘em. $25 each. One per day. To spend as you please in the Google Play store.

Struggling to find Google Play gift cards? Yeah, me too. I know they are supposed to be available at Target and Gamestop, but I have yet to see one in the wild here in Oregon. Maybe I’m just not looking hard enough. Thankfully, I no longer have to look if I don’t want to, because Google is allowing you to buy Google Play credit directly from the Play store. Problem half-solved! Unfortunately, until they allow me to buy Google credit and hand it to another user, this is sort of a meaningless move.

If you are interested in loading up a child or friend’s account, know that you can buy anywhere from $5 to $50 worth of Play store credit.

Thank, Buddha. Finally, Google has announced that Google Play gift cards are official. While I understand the importance of them, it still baffles me to think that we spent a week talking about…gift cards. But hey, kids need to shop too, right? This would be the way for those without credit cards to ball out in the Play store.

They will be available at GameStop, RadioShack, and Target in the very near future, if they are not already. Walmart.com should have them by next month. You will be able to purchase them in $10, $15, $25 and $50 denominations.
