Verizon Protection Plan Open Enrollment Starts Today, Now Offers Same Day Cracked Screen Replacement

verizon 4g lte

Verizon’s open enrollment period for their mobile protection plans kicks off today and ends April 9. For those not familiar, this is the chance each year to enroll your phone in a protection plan should you have passed on the option at the time of purchase, but now want some coverage.

Currently, Verizon offers five different types of coverage, including Extended Warranty, Wireless Phone Protection, Total Equipment Coverage, and the big guy, Total Mobile Protection. They also offer a “Tech Coach” plan, should you need a friend in the business to talk to about phones on the regular.

I don’t want to dive into each (you can found out more here), but did want to point out a new feature to Verizon’s Total Mobile Protection. Verizon tells us that with Total Mobile Protection, you can now receive same-day repairs for cracked screens either in-store or thanks to a technician stopping by your house. There are apparently 220+ repair locations around the country with more on the way.

Here are the phones currently available for same-day repairs:

  • Apple iPhone SE, 5c, 5s, 6, 6 Plus, 6s, and 6s Plus
  • Samsung Galaxy S5, S6, and S7
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and 5
  • Motorola DROID Turbo and DROID Maxx

Additionally, the Total Mobile Protection plan gives you cracked screen repair for a $79 deductible and up to 3 claims per year.

For pricing of each plan, you have the following:

  • Total Mobile Protection: $11.00/mo
  • Total Equipment Coverage: $9.00/mo
  • Wireless Phone Protection: $7.15/mo
  • Extended Warranty: $3.00/mo
  • Tech Coach: $7.00/mo (lolz!)

To get signed-up for a protection plan, hit up this Verizon link.

Check with your Credit Card provider or Personal Insurance to see about “Extended Warranties” Most cover cell phones and do not require a deductible. Purchase smarter.

    You’re welcome. =)

Good looking out – thanks for the reminder Kellex!

Can I have them fix the cracked screen on my Nexus 6 64gb, when Verizon only sold the 32gb?

  • Pakmann2k

If you own a Samsung, just buy their plan straight from them. $100 up front for two years, transfers to any model, if you upgrade, S8? and replacements are only $75, shipped overnight. If you replace a single phone within 2yrs (100 for service + 75 for replacement), you kicked Asurions @$$ in price. Assurion is $242 for two years plus 179 per phone. I have spent $250 total and that is two replacements since the S7edge came out. I plan on dropping another 75 when i upgrade just to get another new one. BTW, they send you brand new devices, not refubished models.

I cancelled the insurance on my phone and my wife’s phone after they added a $150 deductible. Instead I move $20 a month to a savings account. I have enough money in that account to pay full price for a replacement phone and it’s still adding up.

My sister is terrible with her phones, she breakes them all the time. This service is good for people like her, but for me, I never broke one before, so it can be useful in the short term because the price of a flagship is too high and with a $80 deductible it’s a good way to get it back.

  • FelisLachesis

$33 for up to three devices, or $9-$11 each device? Really?

      Verizon’s version of math.

  • hkklife

Interesting how the S6 and S7 Edge Samsung handsets are conspicuously absent from that list. I’ve seen a LOT of cracked Edge screen Sammy models!

    • Bonedatt

Yea.. I’m not sure they’re replacing those Edge panels. They’ll probably just replace the whole phone. My sister in law shattered her screen (S7 Edge) and was going to have it repaired for about $225 through Samsung, but Samsung suspended repairs of out of warranty devices effective September 30 2016. Luckily I had a protection plan in place (which she wasn’t aware of ☺), so we filed an insurance claim and got a brand new one the next day.

Tech coach is an absolute joke. If you can afford it, buying the manufacturer’s warranty plan (like through Google and Samsung) is usually the way to go versus carrier options because of the much lower deductibles. However, if it’s your only option or you want protection against your phone is lost or stolen, carrying it for a year is my recommendation.

The real deal (imo) is the extended warranty coverage. Getting a replacement phone two years in at no charge is great, and they don’t really care what you have or where you got it. I bought a cheap LG G5 for like $180 off Amazon that had scuffs and scratches and got it warrantied for one that looked basically brand new. In fact it may have well been a new device since it had all its original plastics. Granted, the original wasn’t like excessively worn, but hey, good to know I have a warranty.

    • boybert

Agreed! Extended Warranty is worth it. I’ve had great luck with it on my last few phones when they invariably start acting wonky after a year or so.

  • Raven

Cracked screens … Great! … but they wouldn’t even look at the wonky charging port on my wife’s custom Moto Maker Droid Turbo 2. They just suggested we send it in for a full deductible refurbished replacement. We just ended up getting her a free Droid Z Play with one of their deals instead.

  • Tuxdreamerx

So let me guess if you don’t have a authorized center near you, then the full $200 deductible applies and you can’t take advantage of the $79 screen replacement?

  • Zack

I’ve got an S7E with a cracked screen. Could I enroll for $11, pay the $79 deductible, then immediately de-enroll? $90 is somewhat reasonable for a new screen compared to the kiosks in the mall who want to charge over $400. Some won’t even touch it.

    • trixnkix637

Good luck but I doubt it. They usually have a waiting/grace period from when you sign up like car insurance.

    • Bonedatt

I don’t see why not. Then again it’s Verizon. I know with T-Mobile it’s effective immediately and you won’t get it repaired, you’ll get a replacement after the $175 deductible. We got lucky and received a brand new replacement intead of a refurbished unit.

    Tech coach… Lol.

    • Justinlstn

      7 dollars a month…absolutely amazing.

      • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

I remember when the entire insurance plan cost $7

Yeah they won’t tell you which devices are covered. I bet you the Samsung edge devices aren’t covered by same day screen repair for $79. That’s a $300 screen and not many people have been able to replace it.

    • I have profited $104k in last twelve months by doing an online job and I did it by working part time for several h every day. I’m using a money making model I was introduced by this web-site i found on-line and I am so thrilled that i earned such great money. It’s really beginner-friendly and I am just so happy that i found this. Check out what I did… http://statictab.com/msxjhtx

  • sc0rch3d

I pay 10.99 per phone per month on AT&T (contracted to Asurion). They’ve offered next day shipping (even Saturday) on every claim I’ve ever made. VZW same day replacement is pretty cool though.
