Motorola Sends Invites for DROID RAZR M Soak Test, Jelly Bean Incoming?

This morning, Motorola’s forum manager Matt, has started the process of sending out the invites to their feedback community for a soak test that will take place for the DROID RAZR M. Motorola did say that by the end of the year, their new lineup of RAZR devices would be sporting Jelly Bean. Could this be it? It seems a bit early, but this is a “new” Motorola that is promising quicker updates.

If you’re part of the group, then you’ve probably received an email that looks like this:

Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are inviting owners of the Droid RAZR M on Verizon to participate in an early preview of a new software release, and provide feedback.  If you are not currently using a Droid RAZR M, please excuse and ignore this email.

Don’t know why I want on this merry go round. My Maxx isn’t even a year old yet and they’re pushing out more and more and more Razrs and supporting them right off the bat while the “old” Maxx’s get tossed to the curb. I don’t want on this thing. It’s a profit machine for these companies. I’m sticking with my Maxx for another year. Forget helping them get rich off me, whether or not I get JB or KLP or whatever. I’ve got my own ‘profit margins’ to keep in line, thanks.

  • Gotta say, I’m impressed Moto. Not only are you living up to your word about dramatically increasing the speed of updates, but the RAZR M has only been out for 6 weeks, and they already have a soak test gearing up. And its been a mere 2 weeks since the “leaked” build.
    Bravo, gentlemen, bravo.

Now, let’s see if they can keep up that record with the RAZR HD leak this weekend, and let’s see some JB leaks for the older devices 😀

Typically when Matt uses the wording “new software release” (as opposed to “software enhancement”) it means a new OS version. I could be wrong.

Also, it’s ‘redacted’, not ‘retracted’ 🙂

Glad I wasn’t the only one to notice the redacted thing.

Well that was pretty fast. JellyBlur! Come to dadday!!!

  • kixofmyg0t

This should be Jelly Bean. Lock it in, I’m calling it.

    • panicswhenubered

You’re locked in. If you’re wrong, God help you, you’re interwebs reputation will be forever ruined.

      • kixofmyg0t

Pfffft. My interwebs reputation was ruined when I picked this username.

hmm… i loaded up the leaked jelly bean build. also happened to get this invite. i’m afraid i’ll be told to do something, but my build wont be correct and i’ll get kicked off. anyone wanna throw me a page with the stock build on it? i got one good lead in google, but a major link was dead. then the forum that was hosting the build zip kept giving me a weird login issue.

    gingerblur….. ice blur sandwich…

    jelly blur?

I hope soon they kill off their skin… I still have nightmares of how bad froyo was when I first bought the Droid 2

    • I cant stand MotoBlur. I picked up the M to show my girl and instantly hated it (i heard good things about it), as did she. it doesn’t even feel like android.

      • Batteryliferules

What are you talking about? I have had the GNex and Maxx and now Maxx HD. There are only small enhancements here and there, pretty much stock for most of the user experience.

        • lgreg64

i agree. you can’t please some people this is the best skin out there. there is very little added.

      • wtfsss

What are you talking about, this blur is nearly the same thing as aosp with a slightly different status bar, navigation buttons, quick settings on home screen, slightly changed lock screen, and slightly different icons. Its closer to stock android than any other manufacturer skin I’ve come across.
        Typing this on my M

      • Daniel Maginnis

totally… transparent menus, circles widget, favorites app menu, wtf is up with the quick settings on the left of the home screen, and UGH! oh screen buttons….

        • HTC1

“UGH! on screen butons”. Now we know you don’t have a clue. He’s arguing about not being stock and your making fun of the most stock feature available. Donkey!!!!!!!!

          • Daniel Maginnis

blah.. sarcasm is hard to detect thru text. i have a razr m and love in. in fact lower in this post, you can see that i’m invited to the soak test.

Heck the newer overlay Moto is using is barely even an overlay compared to the older devices. It is nothing like the Blur they had in GB or Froyo. Its the closet to stock Android look you’ll find comparing it to the Sense or TouchWiz crap overlays.

  • Confidential… do not post this on public sites…. HAHA. GOT.
