Amazon Slashes 4G Phone Prices for Memorial Day Weekend: DROID Charge, Thunderbolt and Revolution on the Cheap

Our friends over at Amazon just reached out to let us know of their big ol’ Memorial Day Weekend 4G sale that has already begun.  They’ve slashed prices on all 4G phones which includes the lineup currently offered by Verizon:  HTC Thunderbolt ($129), LG Revolution ($149), and DROID Charge ($179).  Not a bad deal, I’d say.  Obviously those are the new customer prices, but I’ve looked at the “upgraded” pricing and it’s almost as enticing and just a few bucks higher.

And to top that off, there is also word floating around that these will all be free on Monday, but we have been unable to confirm that with Amazon directly.  If we do, we’ll be sure to update this post.

Buy:  LG Revolution | DROID Charge | HTC Thunderbolt

  • Not sure what all of you are talking about — these sale prices are legit.  New customer prices, check the site…

  • Kalric

Not quite sure where your information is coming from, but neither Verizon or Amazon is showing these prices.  I called both and they both said they heard about the post from this forum, but it’s wrong.   /sigh

  • I as well as my pals appeared to be reading the best tricks on your site and then came up with a horrible feeling I had not expressed respect to you for those secrets. The boys happened to be for this reason very interested to study all of them and already have truly been enjoying these things. Appreciate your indeed being quite thoughtful and for using varieties of marvelous themes millions of individuals are really desirous to discover. Our own sincere regret for not expressing appreciation to earlier.

Welcome to my site Stds itchy feet.

I just tried to order this phone an it is still at $199.00 $5/30/11 9:00 AM EST

  • Wareaglevi

I just checked the Amazon website. The free phones story is false.

  • Nickle151515

Just went on Amazon, and there was no memorial day weekend sale.  I was offered the Charge for $250-strange.

If I click upgrade it says 199 for me. 179 for new individual acct. And 679 phone only.

  • Van

I just called Amazon too, and the guy said “What Memorial Day Sale?” I explained what I’d read and he told me to hold on. There was lots of clickety-clacking on the keyboard, and then he said “no I don’t see anything about a sale. Maybe wait until Monday? You know, actual Memorial Day.”

And I’ll wait. I have my doubts about this “sale” and if it does happen I have my doubts I can get in on it (upgrading). BUT if I order today or I order Monday the phone’ll still arrive the same day thanks to the holiday.

Hmm, just spoke w/ an Amazon rep today again and no special sale.  The rep did say he saw the online blogs posting this weekends sale but, nothing from his management yet.  Will follow up tomorrow.

    Anyone hear anything different??

  • Van

Any word on the “free” phone rumors? I really want to upgrade to Revolution, but I obviously don’t want to do it today if the phones are going to drastically drop in 2 days.

I just spoke with the Amazon rep, she couldn’t quote me th rpicing or the weekend holiday special because it’s not the weekend yet.

I told her to go on Droid Life and she will get the heads up over her colleagues for tomorrows sale 🙂

  • Figures.  I just bought a Thunderbolt for $200.

    • Anonymous

      ugh…mine was $250

  • Xhaxol

I just got 4G LTE in Spokane WA, 14up 6down, thats 2 weeks early, sweet! My thunderbolt loves the new speed.

  • I saw an Amazon banner ad with $99 for Xperia Play…

All nice if free on Monday…but to be stuck for 20 months, no 1yr upgrade, no NE2, I think I might be just a BIT more careful in my choice of next phone that I will be stuck with…

I am finally looking for a replacement on my OG Droid (lost the battery last week due to running into the hospital for my wifes delivery of our secind child).

Guess I will be looking at the Tbolt as my next device this weekend.

    • I would get the charge instead

      • Anonymous

I mean if your cool with not getting updates then sure

        • Steelertown7

Well the TBOLT is basically a paper weight so yea.

          • Anonymous

Yeah, right now i really need a cell, the charge is not looking so hot to me.  I can pick up the Thunderbolt and as soon as the Bionic or something better comes out with the specs I want, I’ll just give it to my wife 🙂

maybe I’ll even root the thing 🙂

          • BillyT

Says the troll who doesnt have one.  so sorry.

      • I looked at the Charge, and my Verizon guy even suggested it.  It has a VERY nice screen, no doubt.  But the rest of the phone felt cheep and bulky.  And when it comes to manufacturer skins, I prefer Sense anyway.

  • rawr33

My family plan upgrade price is $199. I wonder if it would be free to me on Monday…

  • Bhudson61

Seems like there will soon be lots to choose from. Speaking from experience, avoid the Thunderbrick like a disease. It’s a piece of junk that HTC should be embarassed of.

    • curious

I see people bashing the TB left and right. But, they never say WHY. Can you tell me why I should avoid this phone?

      • zoobey746

Uninstallable bloatware and poor battery life…

        • curious

I was under the impression that this phone can be rooted and then removed. I must be wrong or need to do some additional research before Monday.

          • Dean2359

I love my Bolt, with a little tweaking I’m routinely getting a whole day out of the battery with moderate to heavy use, sense is nice and the build quality is top notch.

        • Anonymous

I hear and read it can be rooted.  Considering doing it next week myself.  I’ve used mine most of today:pandora, camera, internet, games, and at about 70% now.  I’m using the free juice defender…seems to be working well.  It’s all about preference I guess.

  • Craigg

The Verizon Gods decided to give one of my lines an option to upgrade 8 months early so I went ahead and bought a Charge for $269. I tried to get it on Amazon at $249 but I wasn’t eligible for the upgrade there. The lowest price without a contract is $569. If Amazon gives it away for free I bet they make you agree to an additional penalty over and above the usual $350 ETF; otherwise it would be a steal at $350 w/o contract.

  • EricL

Seems like that price is only available to new customers.

  • Phonzoxd

How come when i try to upgrade its still 250.  But new customer is 180?

    • Anonymous

Cause they already got you on contract (for now).  They want the new people to spend tons of money!

  • eric

Phandroid.com and mobilecrunch.com are stating that almost 20 4g android phones will be FREE on Monday, heres the link http://phandroid.com/2011/05/27/amazon-taking-memorial-day-sale-to-next-level-nearly-twenty-4g-phones-will-be-free-monday/

    • eric

I dont know if they just added it to the article on here or if I just missed it but i do see it now 🙂

    • 11knives

I wonder what the discount is on Monday for an upgrade.

  • i so wish i had an available upgrade. still rocking the original droid

    • No one ‘rocks’ the OG Droid.

      • Rizzidy

I’m counting down the days until I can get rid of mine.

  • hmmm… i wonder why the Thunderbrick is on the cheap…..

    • Bhudson61

They couldn’t give me one now…unfortunately I’m stuck with one.

      • curious

Why? What’s wrong with the Thunderbolt?

    • is this retail pricing? cause the retail price is slashed out
