Download: Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) for DROID Incredible

Thanks to XDA member Tmartin03, the Gingerbread (Android 2.3) leak for the DROID Incredible that popped up this morning is zipped up and ready for flashing.  From what I can tell, everything works including the camera.  And I apologize if I’m behind in Incredible updates, but FastBoot appears to now be available and 720p video recording is back(?).  It’s still old Sense and doesn’t have switchable skins or anything, but it will bring you up to Android 2.3.3.

Download:  TMartinPPC_GingerInc_v1.0.zip | New Radio

Instructions:

*Includes Superuser.

*NOT FOR INCREDIBLE 2.

1.  Download the GB file from above and drop it on your SD card.
2.  Boot into Clockwork Recovery and perform a factory reset.
3.  Choose “install zip for sd card” and locate the file from above.
4.  Install it.
5.  Enjoy!

Update Radio:

1.  Download “New Radio” file from above and drop on root of SD card.
2.  Boot into HBOOT by holding Volume Down and Power until it loads.
3.  Follow prompts to flash the PB31IMG.zip file.

Works great for me, Google Talk didn’t work with update but found a new gingerbread leak for Gtalk that works great and has cooler features. Phone now runs much faster, smoother and with better battery life!

  • Rait1234

Thanks for the update. Everything worked just fine. MUCH faster. 1 Major disappointment though, the Silent Mode is now missing from the long press on the power button. I used that constantly. I see from your pictures that this is probably by design. Is there any way to get this back???

Also, Google Talk is no longer working as others have mentioned. Don’t even see it in the market. Does it not work on Gingerbread?

    Thanks in advance.

GTalk keeps FC.  A few others have commented the same thing.  Any fix?

  • Dorestantj

If my phone is flashed over to Metro pcs will doing this update unflash my phone?

  • Jacques

My phone showed the little androids at the bottom skating, I never seen this on my phone, it was sort of like a start up screen on computers, it said I could recover, fast boot or reload my phone. I thought it was broke. Maybe Verizon is rolling out gingerbread for droid incredible this weekend or next week. Fingers crossed.

  • Tjgonzo

Followed all the instructions and it keeps rebooting.  I’n not new to custom ROMS.  Keeps saying something about acore process FC then reboots.

    • Firsttwin1977

Been sitting at the HTC Incredible screen for a good while now. . . .

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=120701197 Daniel Sharpe

Well that’s it. I was having some issues with this ROM. 1. com.android.mms has stopped working… 2. I’m out of memory? How am I using 530MB of RAM when I was only using 280MB on CM7?

I love Sense but I’ll be waiting for someone with skill to build a good GingerSense ROM.

I’m going back to CM7 for now.

  • Pmaroke

Lol in my hardware specs it says that my phone has a “4.3″ screen.

  • Firsttwin1977

ok. it won’t extract when i try to install it. wtf?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=120701197 Daniel Sharpe

So far I like this ROM (looks nice runs fast). The only issue I’m having is I’m getting a android.mms force close every time I try to access my text messages.

  • Anonymous

I was confused at first since I just flashed OMFGB two nights ago and its Android 2.3.3, then I realized this is a gingersense rom :D Sense 3.0 here we come!

  • Tjgonzo

What is the radio? What happens if you don’t flash it? Sorry for the dumb question ha!

  • http://twitter.com/fredshots Fred Mahusay

Installation was seamless.  On initial boot got an FC for gTalk.  Completed setup, synced 3 gmail accounts, .me, and yahoo mail no problem.  Installed LauncherPro, Tweetdeck, Heytell, Quickboot, ES File Explorer, Picplz, Foursquare, and Wireless Tether with no problems.

Cannot seem to locate the standard Google Apps (maps, navigation).  Probably have to download the apk from a previous release.

Google Talk icon is present, but continually gives FC.

    • Currypowderman

Hi, I keep getting stuck on the droid eye…any help?

      • http://www.facebook.com/jtreasure Jaymes Treasure

Mine got stuck at the droid eye and kept rebooting, luckily I made a backup of the phone before I flashed. Now its back to the old one, guess I’ll wait for the OTA update.

  • http://twitter.com/fredshots Fred Mahusay

Flashed without a hitch.  Standard Google apps (maps, navigation, gTalk) seems to not be included.  Everything else runs as smoothly as FroYo with subtle changes.  Nothing major in terms of visual differences though.

  • dominguez619

it wont let me boot into hboot after i flash the rom. how do i fix it?

    -HELP-?

So I’m currently running MIUI and have been for a while now on my Incredible. I’m not new to the whole rooting thing at all (I had an OG Droid for two years). I’m thinking of switching to the Gingerbread rom. The thing is, with MIUI, the second you start doing moderately intense browsing (full websites) it just reboots out of nowhere. Is this with all roms on the Incredible? Am I using a wrong kernel or something?

Thats most likely an issue with MIUI

Can anybody explain to a  Droid novice like me, just what kind of enhancements GB is gon bring to the Dinc?

Its way faster and cleaner. From my experience, its more battery efficient too.

      • Falconer

Thanx dude!  Battery efficiency is def one of the things that i hoping to hear, but no other fancy bells and whistles huh?

        • http://www.facebook.com/objection89 Miguel Angel Portela

Little things here and there. Its mostly a performance upgade. Its so worth it.

I’m glad the Inc1 has gingerbread before the Inc2. My purchase seems justified…

    • Devator22

This is sarcasm, btw. I have an Inc2. Just wanted to clarify.

    • Isaacstaco

Why wouldnt it have it before the Inc2. It came out first…

    I’ll stick with MIUI…

  • Mr.Joe

So there’s NO NEW sense features in this?

What a rip off.  COME ON HTC!  It’s not like the Incredible 1 can’t handle it.

    • Schwobroda

Seriously. What the hell, Verizon? I just wanted the skins feature. This looks NO different than my Group interface.

  • Dave Mars

when will the actual update be out for this phone.. i dont want to flash my rom .. or have to deal with any of that.. ?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=120701197 Daniel Sharpe

I’m wondering if I should switch too (using CM7). I think I’ll wait and see what people say (is it fast/slow, etc). By the time I wait maybe someone will have already developed a custom ROM anyway.

I don’t know what the nightlies from cm7 look like for the dinc, but on the og droid its up to the 2.3.4 build, so this might be a step down for you if your running the most current nightlie.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=120701197 Daniel Sharpe

I haven’t been running the nightlies. I’ve been thinking about it because I know they’ve been running 2.3.4 however, I tend to lean towards the more stable releases. I have some weird bone in my body though to flash this just to see what it’s like. Curse my flashing tendencies….

Sometimes I wish that the guys over on XDA were in charge of all of our official software updates.  Those guys seem to be able to do just about anything in a minimum amount of time.

  • http://www.twitter.com/slinky317 slinky317

Would be interested to see how battery life is with Gingerbread.

  • Tygereye79

Can a stock, unrooted phone put this file ?

    • Anonymous

Nope you have to be rooted.  You could be stock though, but definitely need to be rooted.

      • Anonymous

Kellex, I am flashing again. I was stuck on splash screen forever. Did it take you a while to get past this point? Or did I have a bad install?

        • http://twitter.com/TonyG916 Tony Garza

it took a while for me

          • Anonymous

Thanks, still not working Tony. I am trying a factory reset fix that worked for someone with the same prob over at XDA.

What difference does GB even make???

A Froyo ROM is almost always faster anyway…

    • Anonymous

A Froyo ROM isn’t going to be anywhere near as fast a real GB ROM.

      • Tferrell7368

Im really new to all this and PATIENTLY waiting on GB for DX, whe I get the OTA update will I have a the real GB ROM?

        • Mr.Joe

          Yes!  Yes you will!

    • Mr.Joe

      You’ve got to be kidding.

    • Anonymous

Gingerbread is a decent amount faster than Froyo and there’s a few visual tweaks here and there.

  • Anonymous

I should steal my brother’s Dinc for an afternoon and give it back to him with Gingerbread….

    just because…

  • Tygereye79

Do you need to be rooted for this update?

    • http://twitter.com/Pucuck Nicholas Ringhiser

Yeah, gotta flash through Clockwork Recovery. I want to try this myself but I just flashed back the stock 2.2 rom and can’t root at work.

  • Anonymous

New radio added to post.  I’m flashing now.

    • Anonymous

Let us know if it’s stable and everything works once you do. I’m really interested to see if VZ got it right with the DInce unlike the TB.

    • http://twitter.com/TonyG916 Tony Garza

did you rename the zip to update.zip?

      • Anonymous

No need to rename either files.  Radio instructions posted now as well.

        • http://twitter.com/TonyG916 Tony Garza
