Google Introduces Movie Studio on Android for Honeycomb, Here are the First Pictures

Eric Schmidt is on stage at MWC right now and just walked through a demo of a new app built specifically for Honeycomb and tablets called Movie Studio.  The app allows you to edit an entire movie just as you would on a PC in an above-average editing program.  You can add transitions, move around slides, include a music track, export it in a variety of formats and of course, share it with friends.

Check out the gallery after the break.

Oh man am I excited! I, along with production and acting also edit movies for a living, so this is sweet news to my eyes! I hope it comes with lots of cool filters and transitions, maybe some I’ve never seen. But alas, on a phone I doubt it will measure up to even low quality editing suites, but I’ll still hope it isn’t just imovie or windows movie maker.

    • Jawshua

But you know, before I judge, I’m just grateful we actually get an editing program on a phone! That is a first for me!

I haven’t even wanted a tablet (or wanted to pay $800 for one) until I saw this post. This is pretty freakin’ cool.

This was the app they used in the XOOM Superbowl commercial!

  • Anonymous

Has anyone noted that this isn’t really the first for seeing this? Check back the Super Bowl ad. The dude uses this to make the animated video he sends to the girl.

  • Chris Nimon

I’m sure there will be at least 1 person ;) who says this is for making porn lol

    • Anonymous

justing waiting for that 3d camera…

      • Chris Nimon

I guess I better get one of those fish eye lens adapters to lol

        • Anonymous

          Thats to artsy

          • Chris Nimon

Yeah but it makes everything in the middle appear larger ;)

    • EC8CH

And his name will be Steve.

      • Chris Nimon

Dind ding ding, you win a turtle neck stuffed with cottage cheese lol

  • Kevoskee

Looks spicy. If i get this, I can create movies about my family on the go.

I thought this site was for “Droid” users. The posts for Droid specific topics seems to be fading fast…. Just my opinion

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=25001493 Hank Godwin

You’re welcome to go try out another site if you aren’t pleased with this one…

      • 11knives

Wow I offer an opinion that I hope will lead to open discussion and you tell me to go elsewhere lol Very classy, are you a government official?

        • Illustrativetype

Yeah that’s what happens here man, sad news By the way Lucas Films is wanting more money from Verizon, no more droid branding around summer when the contract is up. This will break in a few days.

    • EC8CH

This site will keep you informed on anything relating to android products on Verizon. This includes devices available on Verizon, android OS information, android apps, etc.

For information on specific android products on other carriers, please go here: http://an.droid-life.com/

      • 11knives

I must be confused, I thought it was “Droid” life for “Droid” users who are all obviously on Verizon because Verizon is the only carrier of “Droid” devices. Maybe a little clarification here please Kellex.

        • EC8CH

I think this site originated by covering only “Droid” branded devices on VZ, but has since expanded to any android device on Verizon whether or not it carries the “Droid” brand. I think they don’t want to miss out on covering the cool high tech gizmos like the TB and the XOOM just becuase they’re not paying George Lucas.

If you don’t care for seeing the latest and greatest in Android, then I don’t know what to say :(

      • Mr.Joe

Isn’t that what an.droid-life.com is for?

        • 11knives

          My point exactly, thank you

        • EC8CH

Here is where I see the distinction:

If it is about an android device on Verizon or anything that runs on a device on Verizon, come here.

If it is about an android device on a different carrier, or something related to android that is completely off the wall, go to an.droid-life.com

I maybe wrong, but that’s how I see it.

          • Anonymous

            That’s just too much work

          • EC8CH

Nobody said android was easy :-)

        • Anonymous

I still think the distinction is stupid. Hardly anyone visits Android Life, and relegating a site to a marketing name (which is obviously what it is; otherwise, the XOOM would have been the Droid Tab, or something) is silly. Just combine the two and have done with it.

Kellex, I know you’re afraid of differentiation due to competing sites like Android Police, etc. Your differentiation comes from the quality of the articles and the strength of the community posting here. Don’t be afraid to embrace the entire Android spectrum on here.

          • Anonymous

            Well Said!

          • EC8CH

I think the problem is that the site started as droid-life specifically for the OGD and then grew as other devices were released. Now its so polpular it would be difficult to change the name. I see your point, but I appreciate the problems kellex would have dropping the droid-life name.

      • Mr.Joe

Isn’t that what an.droid-life.com is for?

    • Anonymous

Well when theres not that much “Droid” news why let one of the more popular android sites dry up and seem out of date. I agree theres not much “droid” news but any news on the now dominating OS is good news to me.

    • Anonymous

I always interpreted the “Droid”, as an abbreviation for Android. There is not enough new Droid branded items to keep interest generated if that was the case.

  • Richard Seyemore

    SO SEXYYY :D

Editing a movie on a tablet just smells like the future :)

Would they PLEASE officially announce the damn release date for the XOOM already?!?!? I am sick of looking at pictures of it.

I want it in my hands already.

  • http://www.droid-life.com Tim-o-tato

Hey Kellex I’m surprised you haven’t post anything on the release of the Incredible S???

By the way, He said that this feature is for Tablets only, I guess for now.

I wonder if I could sell myself to Google and be a lab rat for all of the great stuff they have coming out.

Another great addition to Honeycomb, sure we’ll see more up to the launch.

  • http://twitter.com/sspediacci Sean Spediacci

Man, I can not wait for Google IO to see this all in person.

    • http://twitter.com/ThePeacedOut Phil Stout

Same here! Looks like we are 2 of the lucky few that snuck in before the site crashed

      • http://www.facebook.com/robrbecker Rob Becker

I got google-io-lucky too. Maybe I’ll see you both there?

        • Thegeektern

It would be cool if Droid-Life had a pre or post day get together somewhere in San Francisco.

      • Thegeektern

Make that 3, so much to see, I really cant wait.

        • http://twitter.com/bigtexatx Todd L

          Make it 4.

  • Brian

That’s awesome. Editing a movie/video on a tablet just seems like the right idea.

I wish iOS iMovie had some deeper features like this. While I’ve moved devices, I am sure to grab a Honeycomb tablet!

  • Andyes

    It’s about time!
