Report: Google Pulling Engineers, Managers From Tablet and Laptop Hardware Teams

According to a report from Business Insider, Google is pulling employees from their laptop and tablet hardware teams, placing them on other projects as the company addresses “roadmap cutbacks.” The move is expected to affect dozens of employees, ranging from hardware engineers to program managers.

Google’s move may be related to feedback it’s received for its Pixel Slate and Pixelbook releases. No tablet or laptop Google released recently has received overly positive reviews, so it’s entirely possible Google is simply focusing its assets elsewhere.

As for its software teams and Chrome OS in particular, none of those employees seem to have been affected by this move.
