YouTube Adds Ticketing and Concert Dates to Artists Video Pages

Starting today through YouTube, you’ll be able to more easily find out if your favorite musicians are on tour, along with the specific dates and locations of each stop. If you think you might want to attend a show, YouTube will also feature a “Tickets” button that will direct you to sites for ticket purchases.

To start, Google and YouTube will feature a new section just under the video you are playing that includes concert dates and other info, like the shortcut to ticket buying. You can tap on this area to explore additional concert dates or tap through to buy tickets. For now, the first partnership is with Ticketmaster, so you’ll only see this new section show up under videos where the artist uses Ticketmaster for their ticket sales.

For now, this new feature is rolling out in North America, but the plan is to make it available globally. Since Google is launching this initiative as an “ongoing commitment to support artists,” I would imagine we could see additional ticket buying options outside of Ticketmaster. After all, not all artists use Ticketmaster.
