It is well-documented that Sprint’s LTE network is not the fastest in our country, but the carrier’s tri-band Spark technology has been helping to mitigate shortcomings by leveraging less congested bands during peak times. So far, the technology has been restricted to smartphones, but that’s changing, as the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 will be the first tablet to sport a compatible radio.
In order to take advantage of Spark, you will need to live in a city where it has been deployed. Sadly, the list is limited to 27 metropolitan areas for now, but Sprint says it’ is on track to cover 100 million Americans by the end of this year. We will hold them to it.
The Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, unveiled in May, isn’t exactly a flagship, but its specs are respectable. It features a 7″ WXGA (1,280×800) display, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and either 8GB or 16GB of internal storage.
The Galaxy Tab 4 will be available in Sprint Stores and online for $299 beginning August 15.
