Sony Ends Support for A Few Older Smartphones, Includes Xperia S, Xperia ion, and Xperia go

Smartphone manufacturers can’t support phones forever, a fact that Sony made clear today when it announced a number of its older devices would no longer receive software updates.

These are mostly older devices; every handset falls outside the 18-month update window Google and other Android phone makers generally follow. However, that doesn’t make the news any less sad.

Here’s Sony’s complete list of EoL devices:

• Xperia S
• Xperia SL
• Xperia ion
• Xperia acro S
• Xperia go
• Xperia P
• Xperia J
• Xperia micro
• Xperia sola
• Xperia tipo
• Xperia U

If you’re the owner of any of these smartphones, you may want to consider an upgrade.
