Android 4.3 Announced by Google at SF Event

Well, Android 4.3 is finally here and official. Google’s Hugo Barra took the stage to announce the newest version of the world’s most popular mobile operating system. As for what is inside and how it differs from 4.2, Google highlighted restricted multi-user profiles for tablets and support for Bluetooth Smart aka Bluetooth Low Energy.

Google also added support for OpenGL |ES 3.0, capable of allowing developers to bring more highly-detailed games and apps to Android. Google is bringing DRM APIs in partnership with Netflix, which will allow for streaming full HD movies/shows from the provider via an updated application.

Updates to Android 4.3 should hit the older Nexus 7, Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and Galaxy Nexus starting today apparently. That was fast. The Google Play Edition devices should be receiving the update sometime very shortly.
