Google Boasts 700K Apps In Google Play, Nearly Matching Apple’s iTunes Offering

Big week for Google, having launched their new Nexus lineup, signing deals with WMG, and now, the company has announced that there are about 700,000 applications available for Android devices. My has that number grown over the last two years. Last week, Apple proclaimed that iTunes houses more than 700K apps, but Google now rests right behind them. With the launch of these new developer/unlocked devices, they could give developers the push they need to start writing up those apps and pushing them to Android.

For anyone that has been on Android for quite a while, 700K is a pretty incredible number. Google Play has evolved into an amazingly bright star as of late and hopefully, it’s going to continue to grow and have even better offerings. Next stop – Angry Birds Star Wars.
