It Could be RIP for the Original Pixel and Pixel XL (Updated: One More Update!)

The end of the line has been reached for the first-generation Google Pixel and Pixel XL. By this we mean, no more security updates.

Google released the November, 2019 Android security patch for a number of devices this morning, but the OG Pixel doesn’t appear to be getting one. This move aligns with Google’s support page that lists October, 2019 as the end of guaranteed security updates for both devices.

In addition, October, 2019 also marks the end of guaranteed telephone and online support for the device.

While a few OG Pixel owners may remain, we’d recommend you start looking for an upgrade. For having lasted this long, you definitely deserve it.
