Amtrak Bans Galaxy Note 7 From All Trains, Stations

On October 10, Samsung asked all owners of the Galaxy Note 7 to power down and return the device for a refund. The following day, it was announced that production of the device was shut down, never to start again. Following that, the USDoT banned the device from all airplanes, and today, Amtrak is following suit.

Beginning today, no Galaxy Note 7 devices will be permitted on Amtrak trains, Thruway buses, facilities, stations, platforms, or any other Amtrak vehicles. Basically, it’s not allowed anywhere that carries an Amtrak logo.

Here’s the statement from Amtrak.

The safety of our passengers and employees is paramount. Effective immediately, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 cell phones are not permitted on Amtrak property due to potential serious safety risks. This ban includes Amtrak trains, Thruway buses, facilities, stations, platforms, Amtrak vehicles, and as an item carried within a vehicle on Auto Train.

To anyone still using their Galaxy Note 7, please, return it already.
