Instagram Gains Features in Latest Update, Five New Filters

Instagram shows no sign of slowing, even after overtaking Twitter in number of users, crossing the 300 million user threshold just a few days ago. Even with that news, the Facebook-owned photo-sharing network is not resting on its laurels. Today, the Instagram team announced the release of new filters and features.

First, the new tools. Slow-motion video can now be uploaded, and comments made without the need to refresh your feed. Plus, the perspective of photos is now adjustable.

The new filters total five – Slumber, Crema, Ludwig, Perpetua, and Aden. Subjectively “subtle,” they make use of higher-end hardware; the Instagram team says the original filters compensated for lower image quality. To make the selector tray more navigable, filters can be rearranged with the “Manage” button. A cool touch: the pane now shows previews of your image with the various effects applied.

The additions should arrive in the form of an app update today.
