When Google first announced Android Device Manager for almost all Android gadgets, we could all breathe a little bit easier knowing our phones were a bit safer. With today’s update to their theft/loss protection app, your device is getting even more secure.
Once logged into the Device Manager, you have a lot of control over that phone or tablet from half the world away. You can lock the device or even wipe it clean provided you have the credentials to log in. Today’s update adds a password challenge whenever you start the app and also when you are switching accounts to make sure that it is really you on the other end of the keyboard. This is arguably something that the app should have had from the beginning, but we aren’t complaining that it is here now.
