Last week, I wrote about HQ Trivia teasing an Android app launch. That news was a big deal because the game has been exclusive to iOS users since its launch a few months ago. Unfortunately for them, another live trivia show called The Q, has swooped in and launched on Android.

The Q is much like HQ Trivia, with a host live streaming directly to your phone, asking increasingly harder questions, and a winner walking away with real money. The game kicks off at a specific time each time it goes live, so if you miss out on that particular day’s action, you’ll have to wait for the next show. Other than that, it’s your basic trivia game with general knowledge questions.

The app is available for all Android users, and to give you a sense of how the game is played, I’ve embedded one of their full shows below. As you will, since this is a live stream, the host cuts out from time to time, but the questions appear to always make their way through to your phone. What good would a live trivia show be if you were eliminated based on their stream being of poor quality, anyway?

Download and good luck! I’ll see you there tonight.

HQ Trivia, the app apparently no iPhone owner can shut up about, is headed to Android this holiday season. In a tweet sent out from the official HQ Trivia account, the Android app will be a stocking stuffer, meaning we should expect it around Christmas time, though, no official date was provided.

Now, you may be asking, WTF is HQ Trivia? Well, it’s an online live trivia show that people access via this app, created by the founders of Vine. If you’re quick enough, you can play with others for real cash prizes, so long as your trivia chops are up to the task.

Because I don’t have an iPhone, I know as little as any other Android user about this game, but I’m looking forward to the iOS peeps crying like babies once Android users are welcomed into the fold. Always the best when Android users come and crash an exclusive party.

We’ll let you know as soon as it launches. In the meantime, if you have any experience with this app, tell us all about it in the comments section below!

Neverending Nightmares was launched for select platforms all the way back in 2014, but at long last, the game is available directly from Google Play for Android devices. You see, when this game launched, it was available exclusively for OUYA and Steam, but it has made its way to other platforms over the years.

As a warning, this game is extremely graphic, and I have even seen some say that those who suffer from depression, anxiety, and paranoia should probably stay away from it. The game isn’t scary for the sake of being scary, though. The game’s lead designer, Matt Gilgenbach, designed the game to give a sense of hopelessness and bleakness, inspired by his own struggles with OCD and depression.

Now, as for the gameplay itself, it’s a lot of fun — if you can handle the jump scares and horrific visuals. You play as Thomas, who awakens from a nightmare that you, the player, plays through. As you wake up and explore your surroundings, you quickly realize that every time you’re waking up, you’re only going deeper into the nightmares.

For navigation, you can walk left and right, interact with items that are colored, plus you can sprint for a very limited time. Operating on a checkpoint system, don’t worry about Thomas dying, because he’ll be doing plenty of that. As a twist, the game has three different endings, all based on player actions within the game.

The game is priced at $3.99, with no in-app purchases or ads. Don’t say I didn’t warn you about the jump scares, though!

It’s now December, which means it’s time for Best of 2017 lists! I must say, I love this time of year, because it allows us to be super duper subjective and tell the world our favorite apps, phones, and games from the year.

That’s not exactly what this post is, though.

Google has shared its best of 2017 lists this morning, based on actual data from Google Play and not any subjectivity. We have Google Play’s top new games, new apps, top streamed songs, top movies, top TV shows, and top books.

If you’re interested in our Best of 2017 lists, stay tuned later this month. They’re coming…

Most popular new apps of 2017

Most popular new games of 2017

Top five streamed songs of 2017

Top five movies of 2017

Top five TV shows of 2017

Top five books of 2017

I don’t see too many surprises, but I am disappointed that Rogue One couldn’t beat Moana in the Top Movies portion. Either way, Disney wins.

I do find myself playing others games, too. At launch, I played Into the Dead 2, the new Monument Valley 2, and Stranger Things: The Game as well. All of those are great, but SWGOH has been my go-to for a bit now. However, once Alto’s Odyssey finally drops, I’m sure I’ll be on that pretty hard.

What about you, though? There are a lot of great mobile titles out there, so we’re curious to hear about what you’ve been playing. Still rocking Pokemon? Candy Crush Saga? Temple Run? Let’s hear about it!

Also, if there’s a game you think we should write up for the site, drop it down in the comments and we’ll check it out!

Teased back in mid-June, South Park: Phone Destroyer is now available worldwide for Android users.

To compare this to another popular title, think Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. In this game, you collect character cards, then use these cards to form a squad which you will use in PvP battles. Each card has different abilities, meaning there are many different types of squads you can form. The ultimate goal is to collect the best cards that can shutdown any type of opposing force.

This being South Park, you will find all of your favorite characters and voices in the game, as well as what seems to be a rather intriguing storyline. Just note, you may hear some offensive language, so this game is probably not suitable for your young children.

The game is free to download, but is listed as offering in-game ads and purchases.

If you somehow never played the first Monument Valley, which could easily be labeled as a Top 10 Android game of all time, it’s a puzzler that revolves around architecture. This new installment centers on a mother and daughter, and during the adventure, you’ll learn all about Sacred Geometry (universal patterns used in the design of everything in our reality).

Now, while the game looks gorgeous, it is priced at $4.99. The upside to this is that there are zero in-app purchases. The downside is that you’ll have to choose between this game and your morning mocha cappuccino. I know, tough decision ahead.

Go get it!

No doubt there are plenty of fun titles you can enjoy with your family on the Google Home, but finding a definitive list has been sort of tough. Thanks to a post on Google’s support website, we now have such a thing.

According to the web page, there are over 35 different apps and games specifically for the Google Home, including a Harry Potter quiz, Math Showdown, Tech Trivia, Space Trivia, and more. Seriously, it’s a solid list of games, perfect for keeping you or that special little someone in your life occupied for a bit.

To see the full list, follow the link below and if you see something you like, each link contains the specific command you need to begin the game/app on Google Home. For example, “Ok Google, Play Harry Potter Quiz.”

Update: Google made this all official with a press release, detailing more about what kids can do with a Google Home.

The new activities are rolling out today so you can go on a family adventure together. With their parent’s permission, children under 13 can also have their own personalized Google Assistant experience when they log in with their own account, powered by Family Link. Family Link helps parents manage their child’s Google Account while they explore. And with Voice Match, your family can train the Assistant to recognize who’s speaking, up to six voices.

Have fun!

According to a tweet sent out by ustwo games, the game will finally be made available for Android that day, about 5 months after it was first available for iOS.

If you haven’t already known, the game has been up for pre-registration on Google Play for some time. Pre-registration, in this case, means no more than just a notification for when the game goes live. It’s helpful, but not all that exciting.

Duo, announced alongside Allo at last year’s Google I/O, has been available as an option for folks who want a solid video calling service directly from Google. It actually works very well and we find ourselves using it much more than we do Allo.

Anyway, announced today, Google is starting to inject direct support for Duo right into core services on your Android phone. Google’s vision is to make video calling extremely easy to access, with links to it inside of the Phone, Contacts, and Messages applications.

As for when and who can expect to see this, I’ll let Google explain.

We’re starting to roll out integrated video calling to first-generation Pixel, Android One, and Nexus devices, and it will also be available on Pixel 2 phones. We’re working with our carrier and device partners to bring this experience to more Android devices over time.

According to the announcement, if you and the person you’re video calling are on a carrier that supports ViLTE video calling, your video calls will be routed through the carrier’s ViLTE service. If not, Duo will connect your video call to anyone with the app installed. Pretty shabby.

Be on the lookout for this integration to possibly hit your phone soon.

In March of 2013, one of my favorite zombie killin’ games was launched to Google Play, Into the Dead. Today, its sequel, Into the Dead 2, is now available for download.

If you watch the trailer below, don’t get fooled into thinking there is a compelling story to be overly concerned about. Into the Dead 2 is the same “running and killing zombies” gameplay as the first one, although, the story does evolve over time and has multiple endings. As you run through new environments, 60 stages in all, you pick up new weapons, meet new companions, and ultimately kill as many of the walking dead as you can.

Do note, the game is free to download and play, but there are IAPs that may put you in an advantageous position within the game. I haven’t played it yet, but I’m about to, so I can report back on that.

Die, zombies, die!

Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is always adding new characters, but the latest addition to the game played a major role in 2016’s Episode VII: The Force Awakens. That’s right, I’m talking about the adorable little “one of a kind” droid known as BB-8.

Inside the game, BB-8 is labeled as Droid and Resistance character, making him very viable if those are the types of squads you utilize. For example, if you’re running Finn’s leader ability with BB-8 and three other Resistance toons, BB-8 can inflict multiple Expose debuffs, which combos with Finn’s leader ability to reduce ally cooldowns and gain bonus Turn Meter. That means big damage done to an enemy squad before they ever get a single shot off.

Here’s how EA explains one of BB-8’s signature moves, Illuminated Destiny.

One of BB-8’s signature abilities is called, Illuminated Destiny, which removes negative status effects from his allies and grants bonus Turn Meter. This makes BB-8 an excellent character to use in combat missions within the new Territory Battles campaign.

Now, to unlock this character, you will need a First Order squad. We’re talking a full 5 character squad, which is Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren, First Order Officer, First Order Stormtrooper, and First Order TIE Pilot. While those requirements will make it difficult to obtain a 7-star BB-8, the good thing is that all of the necessary characters are easily farmable for free-to-play users. That means if you don’t already have this squad ready to go, you can farm it and have it ready for the next time this event comes around.

Check out the trailer for BB-8 below, and as always, may the Force be with you.

Super Mario Run, one of the most hyped mobile games of all time, received a major update this week that includes new maps, a new character to unlock, plus a drop in its price.

The group of new maps is called Remix 10, which consists of randomly generated mini maps. In these maps you collect Rainbow Coins that you can use for other things in the game, and at the end of the new areas, you can unlock Princess Daisy as a playable character. You do not need to own the game to access these maps, but you will need to spend in-game tickets.

The big part of this update, though, is the price drop. The game launched for $10, but possibly forever or for at least a limited time, you can buy it for $4.99. That’s 50% off, which is pretty sweet.

If you’ve been waiting for a price drop or you need some Princess Daisy in your life, go get it!
