Thanks to the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) this week, we’re learning that the Pixel 4 is capable of handling more incoming wireless power, which should make wireless charging on the latest phones from Google a much better experience than we had with the Pixel 3 lineup.
Numbers wise, the Pixel 4 supports Qi wireless charging speeds of up to 11W, according to WPC. Last year, the Pixel 3 and 3 XL were capped to 5W wireless charging, unless charged via a Pixel Stand or Google-certified wireless charger.
If you use a Pixel Stand, this development won’t matter much to you, since charging is capped at 10W on that device to begin with. However, if you have random Qi wireless chargers laying around the house, you should notice improved wireless charging speeds with the Pixel 4.
Celebrate good times.
