You Can Now ‘Remix’ Photos Sent to You on Instagram

Inside of version 24 for Android and iOS, Instagram is allowing friends to “remix” photos they receive from friends.

Here’s how this new functionality works. For example, let’s say you receive a fun selfie from a buddy and want to remix it. Thanks to the camera icon at the bottom of your screen, you can capture that photo, edit it, then send it right back for laughs to ensue. You can remix plenty of things, such as doodle on top of it, resize it, add stickers, and more. There doesn’t appear to be a limit on how many times a photo can be remixed, then sent back and forth.

However, if having your photos remixed doesn’t interest you, a One View option can be selected, similar to Snapchat. If you want your friends to be able to view the photo countless times, select Allow Replay. Photos and videos sent with Allow Replay automatically loop and your friends can tap and hold to pause.

This update is headed out to Android devices right now via Google Play.
