Motorola Migrate Receives Version 1.3 Update, Android-to-Android Migration Made Easier

One of the worst parts of buying a new phone is moving all of your data from your old phone to your new phone. There are solutions out there to accomplish this task, but not all are great. Motorola tried to fix that with their 2013 flagships by unveiling the Motorola Migrate app, which allows users to bring content from their old devices onto their shiny new phone. Now we have a new update to the app, allowing you to selectively pick content to transfer, automatically import SIM card contacts to a Google account, and more.

One of the more major parts of the update is the ability to have more precise control of what gets moved to your new phone. In case, you know, you don’t want those old text messages anymore. For those of you upgrading from a phone where all your contacts are stored on your SIM card, you’ll be able to back those up straight to a selected Google account for easy access and less hassle.

Also present are “improved interactions” when your new phone has less available space than your old one, which presumably means it’ll throw an error message at you and prompt you to choose some things to not be transferred.

The update is now live on Google Play as version 1.3, but keep in mind that you’ll have to have the updated version on both of the devices involved in the data transfer to use the new features.
