Over the weekend, owners of the XOOM WiFi began to have their tablets updated to Android 4.1.2. If waiting for the roll out to make its way to your tablet is not in the cards, then the OTA update file has been made available for both stock and rooted users. 

For starters, if you still haven’t received the OTA, you can try the trick of going into Settings and Apps menu and clearing the Google Framework Services data, then checking to see if there’s an update. If you’ve tried that and still no luck, you can download the official OTA file straight from Google’s servers here. If you need instructions on how to apply the update, we have some written on this post.

If you live dangerously and your XOOM is rooted, a rooted version of the OTA has been made available on XDA and you can find instructions below by following the via link.

Jelly Bean Update Rolling Out to Motorola XOOM WiFi Soak Testers is a post from: Droid Life

From what we understand, the XOOM WiFi Jelly Bean update hasn’t started rolling out just yet, but once it does, it should be Android 4.1.1 build JRO03H. That is a slightly newer version of JB than even the Nexus 7 has, even though it was updated to JRO03D a little over a week ago. Other than numbers though, this newer build probably won’t contain anything that we haven’t already seen. The biggest difference here is that it is the first 10″ tablet to receive Jelly Bean. We finally get to see the full tablet experience of Android 4.1, rather than the portrait style that the Nexus 7 has.

Members of Motorola’s Feedback Network will receive the update first. Once they have had it for a few days and no one is hurt in the process, it should be made available to the public.

Update:  There are reports floating around the internet that the update has been delayed. Actually, it was delayed some time last night and still hasn’t started. As soon as it does, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Soak Test for Motorola XOOM WiFi Update Starts Today, Still Assuming It’s Jelly Bean is a post from: Droid Life

If you think waiting for the official Jelly Bean roll out to the Motorola XOOM WiFi is too much (Google says it is coming), then you can go ahead and download this AOSP ROM. Developers over at XDA are beginning to port Android 4.1.1 to the first Android tablet and so far, it’s holding up nicely. Development continues as they work out bugs and what not, but it’s already pretty stable. If you want to try it out on your XOOM, feel free to follow the via down below.

As for when to expect official JB to arrive, we can expect Google to be pretty quick on an update now that 4.1.1 source has touched down. They mentioned the XOOM during the announced of 4.1, along with the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S.

The tabs only run $240, but are factory re-certified and come with a 90 day warranty for anyone who is wary of buying “used” tech items. As we always say, the XOOM is the OG Android tablet -being the first pure Google Experience tab on the market, the XOOM has a very healthy developer community and is also kept up quite well by Google themselves. XOOM WiFi on 1Saleaday for $329, Not the Refurbished Version Either is a post from: Droid Life

Last night, we first reported a new update for the Motorola XOOM WiFi that was scheduled to rollout at any minute. The version of Android is 4.0.4, build IMM76 and includes quicker screen rotation, camera improvements, and the ability to change the lock settings of the power switch. While we have yet to hear of many readers actually receiving the update, the file has already been posted to XDA. So if you have a USB stick and a microUSB host cable, you can update immediately. This file only works in the stock recovery and you have to currently be on Android 4.0.3, build IML77.

To install via USB stick, it should be as simple as dropping the file on there, plugging in to your XOOM via USB host cable, booting into stock recovery, and telling it to update via .zip file.

Download: XOOM WiFi Update 4.0.4 Build IMM76 is a post from: Droid Life

Last week, we received word that Motorola was prepping a “soak test” for the XOOM WiFi, but specific details as to what was included were absent. A message we received in our inbox this evening may change the mystery, as it details a 4.0.4 update that should be here any day. According to this tip, the Android 4.0.4 build number is IMM76 and will include quicker screen rotation, a new setting to immediately lock the screen, camera improvements and more.

We do not have a date of expected release, but with notes like this floating around, we can imagine that it won’t be too much longer. Check out the email after the break.

Motorola XOOM WiFi Receiving Android 4.0.4 Build IMM76 – Quicker Screen Rotation, New Lock Settings, and More is a post from: Droid Life

The Android 3.2 update started to roll out to XOOM Wi-Fi only models last week, and brought with it the XOOM’s support of SD cards. The only problem is that the XOOM is treating the SD Cards as read-only, which definitely defeats the purpose. Can’t rename files, can’t move apps to SD, and can’t move files on the SD to internal.

Very frustrating. Hopefully they’re planning on fixing this before the drop of Ice Cream Sandwich. Or maybe, we can now expect a 3.3 update? Only time will tell. Is anyone here experiencing this issue or is everything working fine on yours?
