Rumors of an HTC-made Nexus device have been floating around for a little while, but thanks to the keen eyes over at Bright Side of News, the existence of the Nexus 9 and its release timeframe is basically now confirmed.
Stated within NVIDIA’s own legal filings, documents which pertain to the company’s upcoming legal battle with Qualcomm and Samsung over GPU technology patents, the company specifically names the new Nexus device, claiming it will be powered by a Tegra K1 processor, expected to see release in Q3 of this year. The HTC “Flounder” or “Volantis,” whichever you prefer, is more than likely the new Nexus tablet from Google. Both codenames, which reference the same device (yes, Google gives all Nexus devices two names), have appeared a handful of times in official Android changelogs and also in detailed rumors. Thanks to a Wi-Fi Alliance certificate that went unnoticed on August 15, we have another sighting to add to the list. (more…)

Talk of Google’s next Nexus tablet, codenamed Volantis, has been heating up over the past month. Back in June, the world received what it thought was an early render and specifications for the device, aka the Nexus 9, but according to sources of @evleaks, that initial report was inaccurate.
From what @evleaks states, Google is currently testing an HTC-made super tablet, which could be released with ridiculous specifications. (more…)
Despite numerous reports to the contrary, Google evidently won’t kill its Nexus line of smartphones and tablets in favor of Android Silver devices. That’s according to the company’s own David Burke, head of Android engineering and the Nexus program. (more…)
Back in May, Google code revealed a possible HTC Nexus device in works, one that most figured would be a tablet since it ran NVIDIA’s Tegra K1. We weren’t sure if the device would be called Nexus 9 or Nexus 8, but did know at the time that it would carry two code names of “flounder” and “volantis” that everyone should be on the lookout for. Thanks to a new report that surfaced over the weekend, we may have a better grasp on the name, a full set of specs, and price points depending on the amount of storage. (more…)
